Kent's most exciting music event will be taking place on the 5th, 6th and 7th June 2009 in the beautiful countryside between Ashford and Folkestone. The weekend will see artists perform in multiple event areas, including the Main Stage, Acoustic Stage, Comedy Tent, and Dance Tent. BBC Kent Introducing will also be showcasing the county's most up and coming bands, alongside NorthSouthDivide, who are bringing the freshest talent from London and Manchester to Sellindge.

SMF can accommodate more than 20,000 festival-goers, who will see performances from over 100 artists and DJs, be able to browse the many trade-stalls, enjoy the rides in the fair-ground, helicopter tours, and check out the art exhibition put on by the Folkestone Artists Cooperative.

This group is for all those interested in going to Sellindge, playing at the festival or wanting to get involved with the team. Feel free to post any questions or comments, or for all general inquiries email:

Main Stage Tournament!!!

After five exceptional performances in the first round, Sellindge Music Festival proudly invites you to Heat 2 of the Main Stage Talent Tournament. The competitors are:

WATCH THIS SPACE:

Despite more line-up changes than band members, Canterbury 5-Piece Watch This Space have played ceaselessly around their home town and Ashford, appearing at Lounge on the Farm and being picked as lead support for the album launch of Kent fellow-funkers, Under The Thumb.

WATERHORSE:

Canterbury rivals Waterhorse have built a large following for their distinctive fusion of rock, blues, folk and roots music. Currently in pre-production for their debut album release, they’ve performed sell out shows at the Canterbury Festival as well as opening for James Carrington, John Ottway and Terra Folk in London.

US & THEM

Since forming in 2007, Brighton-based foursome Us and Them have been consistently pleasing crowds across the country with their bouncing indie, laced with punk vibes and infectious lyrics. Having released their debut EP last year, the band are set for bigger things in 2009.

MONDAY STREET

Pro-Evo fans will recognise Bexleyheath’s Monday Street as the sound-track to their button-bashing in 2009. Fans of the band also include Myspace Radio presenter Alex Zane as well as Pete Doherty, who picked the young four-piece to support Babyshambles at their Teenage Cancer Trust gig last year.

ELEPHANTS:

Kent’s Elephants are already set to play Quarterhouse in March to help BBC Kent Introducing celebrate its first birthday, but with polyrhythmic masterpieces like “Alexander” earning them Steve Lamacq’s title as “ones-to-watch-in-2009”, there’s every chance of a dual-appearance.

Two of the bands will go through to the final to compete against Heat 1 winners Burgundy and The Little Philistines for their chance to play on the main stage at Sellindge Music Festival 2009.

The four bands will compete in the final on March 14th as part of the Month of Music to launch Folkestone's Quarterhouse. To find out more about this exciting new venue and its launch, visit http://www.monthofmusic.co.uk

Make sure you get down to Folkestone for another amazing night at the Frenchman on Thursday 12th February. Entry is FREE!
