Hi

I am a Brit living in The Netherlands and have been to Lowlands for the last 3 years and am planning a 4th trip this year.

I am also considering PinkPop for 2009 and wondered if anyone had any advice on what the campsite, facilities and general atmosphere is like in comparison.

I love Lowlands and think it is far better than any UK festival I have been to and I especially enjoy the chilled out vibe.

Thanks in advance!

dude seriously,

get there early and get in camp A,

we got there dead late last year and ended up in camp C,

was at least a 30minute walk to the arena and wasnt much going on at night time in camp C

remember tickets go on sale on march 7th at 10am!

so far the kooks, placebo and depeche mode have confirmed.

i cant wait, its by far the best festival i've done.

just read the review, do the two big stages not clash at all then? If so that's a major selling point as it means you get more bang for your buck (nod bad when the pound is a joke as it is right now), plus the fact that last year's lineup was amazing and it's in holland lol. Do the headliners clash?

Went on the friday last year. Good for being able to see more bands. 3rd stage might've slightly overlapped main. Obviously that limits bands per day compared to uk festivals somewhat, but well worth it.

Good, so I don't have to go to Pinkpop, and if I go, only to get a day ticket for the DM day (if they sell day tickets, that is).

could anyone let me know of age restrictions if thre are any. Was thinking of going over this year but my daughter is 13. She's a festival veteran having done TITP and other smaller ones for the past 4 years but not sure about this festival and can't find any info on the website
Edited to add we would only be going for the sunday so wouldn't be camping.

no, if someones playing the main stage, they're setting up on the 2nd stage, and visa versa, alough people in the tent can be playing at any time.

The Killers and Novastar have also been confirmed. I got the info off a Dutch site and can't really understand it all but the article also mentions Neil Young, although I don't think he's been officially confirmed yet.

This is like the best festival I know to take kids. There are even 8-year olds, it's quite laid back.

Neil Young is still a rumour. It is stated that local government will add a million euro to make sure it will happen. This year will be the 40th anniversary of Pinkpop.

can please someone help me?

i like to go for the first time to this festival. i'm travelling by train and i like to sleep in a hotel. is that a good festival for that? are there buses to a near town? where are the nearest hotels?

last year i've been to rockwerchter and the situation there was fine with the hotel in leuven and the buses from leuven to the festival site and back.

Madness also playing

This is an ace festival, went last year. Agree that you should try and get into the A Camp if you want to avoid long walks to the arena every day though

Hi everybody,

Just to add on here about the Campsite thing: Campsite A usually opens up at about 7 in the morning.. I normally get there at about half 5 in the morning, always a good time

Anyways, I'm from Holland and been to Pinkpop the last 4 years, and can only emphasise what a brilliant festival it is.. Relaxed atmosphere, and Lineup is great as always

Also the rumours for this year are absolutely amazing - Killers, Kings of Leon, Franz Ferdinand, Editors, Snow Patrol rumoured, Neil young mentioned, Madness selfconfirmed on their blog, and obviously Springsteen, Placebo, Depeche Mode and The Kooks are already officially confirmed

I live in Manchester now but I'm definitely flying over to go this year too ;)

what sites have the rumours on them? madness sounds like a good addition, everyone knows their songs which is all you need at a festival.

That's because it is in a quite populated area, where the neighbours wouldn't tolerate a festival that generates a lot of noise when they want to sleep. Also means the camping is more relaxed (and more crowded, and less things are allowed) than festivals which are in the middle of nowhere like RaR or Melt!
