David Byrne?

nah, he wasn't good - it was a disappointment. I saw him three times on that tour, and Glasto was the worst.

But I'm exceedingly green ..... Talking Heads are the one band I'd kill to have seen live. Having met David, as well as Chris and Tina (and interviewed Chris, and had my photo taken with Chris by Jarvis Cocker :)), simply doesn't make up for never having seen Talking Heads. :)

as for seeing talking heads i worked myself up telling myself how good they would be and when i finally saw them i nearl cried with happiness as they were so frickng good.

shurrup, I hate you. :)

i also heard thru a muso friend some of the bad feelings but i am sure that the things that went un published about their breakup was pretty heavy duty

I really don't think there's much behinds the scenes stuff tbh - I'd guess it was only arguments about what's publicly known (which I'm not going to repeat). Pretty despicable stuff when everything is considered, driven by just one of them. :)

for those addicted to Talking Heads and their offspring, Tom Tom Club will play just their third UK show in 20 years as part of the Island 50 festival in May.

Unfortunately, if, you go, you have to suffer Keane too. :D:unsure:

I'm pissed off tho, cos it's during Wychwood, so I'm gonna miss it .... unless I can pursuade Wychwood to book 'em. ...... Now that's a thought, there's no harm me suggesting it .....

boll**ks !! was hoping against hope that he might play, but had a feeling that he probably wouldn't due to the tour dates finishing quite a bit earlier than glasters. going to see him in manchester at the end of this month will have to do

meant to say euro tour dates

dammit ..... just checked Byrne's dates, and there's no chance of Glastonbury - he's playing in the USA on 26th June.

Cos I'd seen Byrne the night before I was speaking to Michael Eavis at the weekend, I was telling him how good it was.

And Michael then said that conversations had been had with Byrne's people about playing this year. He didn't follow that by saying he wasn't playing, and I perhaps killed off that part of the convo by saying "he can't play, he has dates in the USA on Glastonbury weekend".

However, Byrne the only date (his last announced date on his website currently) is on the Friday, which does give him the opportunity to get back to the UK to play Glastonbury on the Sunday. We know he's coming back to Europe cos he's playing The Big Chill in July, so it's a possibility still I guess. I'll keep my fingers firmly crossed. :)

Meanwhile, I've just managed to lay my hands on tickets to see him in London in a couple of weeks time, even tho it's sold out. :P ..... it's just sooooo good, I just have to see it all again. :D

Still a chance to cling to a vague hope for glasto then Neil?

yep - for me there could never be any better act on a festival stage .... unless the world were to flip on its head, causing Talking Heads to reform (sadly, I don't think it'll ever happen :P).

I'll be seeing him at Big Chill too, but the more times the better. :D
