This may be of interest. According to Ringrocker.com are
AC / DC, The Killers, Guns 'n' Roses, Kings of Leon, Shinedown and Ich bin bunt (who announced themselves they would play, personally never heard of them)
rumored and
Fräulein Wunder, Oasis and Depeche Mode ex-rumors (as in they won't play).

Oh cool, that would be a cracking line up if it happened. I cant see there budget stretching that far for all of them but there is no smoke without fire.

How accurate are ringrocker usually?

They are quite reliable as they have connections to MLK (that's the organizing company). At this point of time though these bands are the ones MLK mentioned in interviews (AC / DC and The Killers for example) or which anounced they'd do festivals in Europe (AC / DC as well).

Kings of Leon and the Killers are significantly smaller in Germany than in the UK, unless they overstretch their budget with AC / DC and have to find a 'cheaper' international headliner (the Germans are usually cheaper as well, DTH don't cost nearly as much as 'Tallica or RATM) neither bands would be bigger than alternahead (which is quite something still, just look at last year's line up). Dunno how much € those bands would want at a German festival though.

About AC/DC: What really speaks against them is that they have a massive German tour planned with gigs close to RaR and RiP and said they wouldn't play pinkpop because they planned gigs in Holland already and want them to sell out. I have my fingers crossed, though.

I would love AC/DC, but can you imagine how many people are going to be sleeping in the Pit at the beginning of the day?!

We camped close to the Main entrance (What was it again? B3A?), but friends of mine parked their car down that hill. Going there and back with a hand-cart was a pain, but doable if you were drunk enough.

Hehe we used the Loos in the carpark for washing etc in the morning cuz they were nicer than ours   AND there was a car that looked like it had fallen into that ditch but it was gone on monday- wierd!

You've got a point there. We'll see, I think it would be great.

I hope I'll get my ticket for christmas or my birthday 2 weeks later.

The hill was a BEAST, walking up it everyday, hungover - was pretty bad. Not only that hill but then there was another hill to go up that wasn't as vertical but still a beast. Only good thing bout that was a good walk downhill on the way back to the campsite.

Beast hill was also a nightmare on the Monday when you had to hike up it with all your stuff, definately not camping at the bottom of it this year!

Oh god, that hill was evil!
I camped down the end of it in C6a in 2007, and walking up it every morning was pure torture... and walking down it in the dark at the end of the night through the trees wasn't much fun either!
I swore i wouldn't camp there again in 2008 but where did I end up?

eh... C6b... ahem

Tip for not ending up in the first campsite you get to or one you dont want to be in provided you dont arrive late is to look at the campsite map and something like google earth to get you bearings and then go on a slight detour so you arrive from the correct direction, coming from the south then either picking east, south or west from experience seems to work well and is normally quieter. although hopefully 80'000 people wont listen to me as i will get screwed in traffic for the first time ever!

i like the idea of arriving early, and pitching tent where you like.... more days drinking is appealing to me

should not be too long till we get the first few bands announced. party on!

I 2nd JoshBosh's thought process :-)

Yeah bands should be coming soon. But no festival for next summer of year has bands out as of yet except Wacken and Graspop, so...

I couldnt find where it says Guns N Roses and ACDC are rumours on Ringrocker.....tho i did find this on there http://www.ringrocke...h...u=43&cat=23

which seems to think The Killers & Kings Of Leon are playing....hopefully not headlining anyway. So i hope ur right and theyre not as big in Germany as they are in England!

Ringrocker is also a forum (community > Forenübersicht), where they have a rumour section. You found the rumour section on the portal, which doesn't have all the bands out of the forums (Gerüchte is German for Rumours), but only the ones that are more likely. You can find a link to the forum also on the bottom of the Faq.

Ringrocker.com is in essence a fanpage. A semi-official very good fanpage, but a fanpage nevertheless. Official is only www.rock-am-ring.de
