I don't know if this has always been the case but it upset to read in this years Fine Guide,

"No portable laser equipment or pens are permitted. No animals (except registered guide dogs), sound systems, generators, kites or sky lanterns, unauthorised fireworks, or wax flares, large fires or burning of plastic will be allowed on site. "

So I guess you risk them being confiscated. But give it a go all the same, I'd miss the A LOT if they weren't there floating about the sky.

There were links on here last year organising a mass lantern release at the stoone circle at a certain day / time to mirror something done in Japan every year

This would indeed have been spectacular but I don't remember seeing it actually happen

By, "no sound systems", I wonder if that includes small portable boom-boxes / hi-fi's, or whether it is meant to apply more to bigger "rigs". I've taken a portable before, but don't particularly want to run the risk of getting it confiscated on entry.

I seem to remember GFL making it well known last year that it was completely unacceptable from a Health and Safety point of view never mind contrary to the licence conditions. Didn't whoever was responsible for H&S post something to that effect on here ?

Last year was my first glasto, and i didn't have a clue was sky lanterns were. So when I turned around on the friday night and saw a glowing object above the site i shat myself and thought 'OH f**k! Bin Laden has really done it this time!' Don't think my state at the time helped my paranoia though.........

There may be alternatives - seem to remember some balloon type things that were released from Stone Circle one year, that were illuminated internally somehow (possibly by one of those chemical sticks), and remember some released that had sparklers attached another year.

Well I bought some on ebay after seeing them going off from the stone circle last year. Most of them are still in the garage waiting patiently for the end of June. I might try one out tonight just to see how they look.
