  1. I was there and it was amazing. Easily one of the best gigs I have ever seen. It still stands out in my memory to this day. They were totally on top of their game, great energy throughout, the crowd were really tuned in, big singalongs, the works. The only downside was the crowding was pretty brutal when everyone attempted to shuffle off at the end of the set (/obligatory extended Its The End Of The World As We Know It encore). Final year before the (Roskilde crush-induced) superfence and REM were still absolutely massive at that point so the field was utterly mobbed. One of those where you're constantly crushed and have no control of where your feet go next. Had to put my 5'2" girlfriend on my shoulders cos it was starting to freak her out. I'm a big guy and crowds don't normally faze me as I can comfortably see over everyone's heads, but I didn't feel safe in that one. I do miss the old pre-fence chaotic energy and the next few years were pretty sterile until it got its mojo back, but it needed to happen. So, yeah, one of the best and scariest gigs ever. 11/10. Would recommend.
  2. Yeah, it'd be a bit of a ballache to do this yourself. You'd end up making all whites transparent and that would mess up the logos and the station circles. However, have just stuck a png with a transparent background in the folder 🙂 Let me know if this doesn't work for you
  3. Here's the final (I think) tube map for Glasto 2023! If you'd like to run off copies then there's a pdf and jpg at this link and please consider dropping by the iTHINC Green Welfare tent to drop some coins in the bucket, or buy a raffle ticket to take home the big map hung on the marquee. We're a not-for-profit voluntary organization providing 24:7 welfare to people in crisis at a whole bunch of UK festivals – your quids really do make a difference.
  4. It's new. The different services all had a presence previously - mostly in the older parts of the site - but this is the first time they're co-located like this and in two of the newer but also very busy and kinda underserved areas, support-wise.
  5. It's a new drop-in facility – located in Silver Hayes and the Park – you can go to if it's all getting a bit too much, with representation from iTHINC (who run Green Welfare and I volunteer with), Mind, SARSAS, and The Samaritans: https://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/information/advice/welfare/
  6. Yeah, fair point. Helping people avoid the choke points is part of the purpose. The Hammersmith & City just got an extension. Thank you!
  7. Yep, that's the fella. You can't miss us - we've got a massive map on the outside of the tent. (Original 2017 version and a large stripy idiot)
  8. Afraid not - lawyers said no. But, once it's done I share a link to download the image and you're free to run some up yourself e.g. with CafePress or whatever. If you do, please consider dropping by the iTHINC Green Welfare tent (between the railway track and a Croissant Neuf) and dropping a quid in the bucket 🙏
  9. Welcome friend. Proceed. That would be my preference too, and in previous versions it was. But in reality the stage it is set back a fair bit and – especially with the new walkway just north of it – Stonebridge is a much better marker for that junction. The map logic is that junctions are stations rather than stages. Hence Pyramid and Other are little stations instead of big'ns. The fine fiddling will come at the end. If i polish every version I start to go a bit mad when I have to move everything 20 pixels left to make enough room that NOWHERE doesn't wrap to two lines and remains ambiguous in meaning. Yes, I do overthink this. Wouldn't be so legible. And, as above, the bar is the junction really. Thank you!
  10. Impossible! That's moved above the line now, thank you
  11. Thanks all! Added 👍 Have to admit, I don't spend too much time up there so not sure I've ever visited. Will try to swing by this year. Will leave it a day or two for any other suggestions to shake out and then send it print (and stick some shareable versions on here).
  12. Alright, I think I've got most of the 2023 changes in for this year's Green Welfare tube map. Please can anyone who knows better point out anything I've missed? (Have slapped a big ol' watermark on it because the draft got pinched and shared on social last year with a bunch of stuff still wrong on it.)
  13. Yeah, the four main zones are still there but the main map doesn't pick out the stages, which do shuffle/rename every now and again Nice one. Thank you!
  14. <rolls up sleeves> Right. I better get this tube map updated then. Think I've got most of the changes. Did anyone manage to figure out if anything is different about the Common (or the naughty corner generally) from 2022?
  15. On the assumption that whoever made that list just pasted in new information and didn't delete any old stuff out of caution/lack of clarification, I'm thinking the Glade Stage is in the trees and the Dome is the marquee. Too late to update the Green Welfare tube map banner but I've updated the versions here if anyone wants 'em for themselves: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Zk05o3lQnU_6Ht9gvfJ4HQOy-nd9lUY0?usp=sharing
  16. Totally with you. It bugs me too. But there's really nothing at that junction. The Tony Benn Tower is the next junction over with the meeting point etc. I could put in a double station, listing both the cider bus over this spot and the village green (or whatever that bar is called) over the other one, but I've kinda avoided including the bars otherwise (coupla notable exceptions). I've basically resigned myself to it being the big annoying flaw.
  17. Done! In the shared folder now too.
  18. Huh. I just attached those to the post directly do should work. However, try this link to my Google Drive.
  19. Um. Yeah. Fair point. Totally see what you're saying. And I wasn't too happy with the SONIC/WOW junction thing either. Plus I've got another tube line colour to play with now so... I think this makes sense. 220613_2022 Glasto tube map.pdf
  20. Ugh. The plot thickens. However, I really want to send the banner to print, so unless anyone's got a hook up with a Glade person, I'm just gonna have to draw a line under this and accept it might be wrong. The pdf and jpg should both be sufficient for high quality print (300dpi is ample for this - prolly more than most T-shirt printers use) at approx A4 sorta dimensions (i.e. with T-shirts in mind). If anyone wants more resolution for whatever reason I can supply but tbh this should be fine.
  21. Okay! Now with the Glade Stage and Glade Dome switched... 220613_2022 Glasto tube map_no arrow.pdf
  22. Fair enough. Will switch them. Personally I like the sound of the pressure coming off the actual glade (of trees) area. It's way nicer when it's not rammed solid.
  23. Maybe you've been walking in through gate B? Gate A is definitely off to the north-west, at Yellow gate, beyond John Peel. Ah okay. Yeah, Block 9 is a funny area - it basically fills most of that space north of the railway line all the way up to and including Ilcon, and with a hedge cutting through the middle of it to separate it into Block 9 East and West (which I don't have room for). The little 'station' tick mark lines are meant to signify the closest/main entrance to a thoroughfare, in this case the railway track. But you can totally get to most things from other directions, e.g. walking over from Genosys. Aha. Nice one, thank you. That helps with a couple of lingering questions I had.
  24. Yeah, I'm kinda guessing but on the official map, that looks to be a marquee in the usual Glade Lounge spot, which I assume is the Dome, with the 'main' Glade stage in its usual position. Very ready to be corrected if anyone knows otherwise though. Lizard Stage is a dinky little chai and world music stage. Figured I might as well wedge them in. Thank you. Are you sure? I can never remember shit about the layout down there but the 2019 map definitely had NYC in that spot. Maybe it's been moved? Anyone know this stuff definitively?
  25. Gotcha. I think I'm happy with this version. Unless anyone points out anything wrong, I'm gonna run with it. So here's the 2022 Green Welfare Glasto tube map 🙂 Hope it helps and have a great festival! If you'd like to win a massive banner of it, come buy a raffle ticket from Green Welfare (just off the railway track heading to the stone circle). 220612_2022 Glasto tube map_no arrow.pdf
