  1. Which festivals will sell out quicker next year?

AEG Presents is planning to launch a huge new festival at Knebworth Park next summer, Music Week understands. The multi-day event, which is yet to be confirmed, would help plug the gap in the festival calendar created by Glastonbury’s fallow year and would be the first concert to take place at the 125,000-capacity Hertfordshire venue since the 2014 Sonisphere festival. The Rolling Stones - who previously played Knebworth in 1976 - are rumoured to be in the frame to headline. AEG offered no comment on the speculation, but has a long-standing relationship with the Stones, who performed at the promoter's Desert Trip festival in 2016 and played two nights during the inaugural edition of its British Summer Time Hyde Park series in 2013 - the band's last appearances in their homeland to date. The company is also producing the Stones’ upcoming No Filter European tour, which begins in Germany on Saturday (September 9) at Hamburg’s Stadtpark. The tour will then go on to visit stadiums in Switzerland, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden, before concluding at the U Arena in Paris on October 25. Tweeting back in May, the legendary rockers all but confirmed that domestic shows would follow. “Sorry to our UK fans there are no UK dates on this run, due to lack of available venues because of sporting fixtures. Hope to be here in 2018,” they said. Knebworth was the site of Oasis’ era-defining 1996 shows and has also hosted the likes of Queen, Robbie Williams, Pink Floyd and Red Hot Chili Peppers. http://www.musicweek.com/live/read/aeg-to-launch-new-knebworth-festival/069701
  2. 2019 Headliners

That'd probably be the ideal scenario, as it would also likely lead to her unleashing the hits.
  3. 2019 Headliners

Is she notoriously pricey? Granted she hasn't done many festivals and I'm sure she costs more than the Arctic Monkeys, but I'd imagine she's easier on the wallet than the big heritage rock acts. The ideal situation would be to book her when she's not flogging a new album.....but then given how rehearsed, choreographed and machine-tooled her performances are there's probably not much chance of her performing a one off. But even a night comprised 50% bangers and 50% middling newbies is gonna be better than Catfish on the Other Stage.
  4. 2019 Headliners

She played Coachella IIRC, though I think it was on a smaller stage.
  5. 2019 Headliners

Probably because three of those were in the setlist for her previous tour so they came out of the rotation when she was touring Rebel Heart in favour of things like La Isla Bonita and Material Girl. I'd be surprised if the setlists figure into any decision to pursue Madonna has a headliner. If you're booking the Pyramid Stage she's got to be near the top of any shortlist that you have on your fridge.

Maybe it meant on Instagram......Emily tends to be more active on there than on Twitter. However Madonna went a wee bit viral this week with the Portuguese FedEx or whoever refusing to give her her post cos they didn't believe that she was Madonna, so it was maybe just driven by that.....

That's maybe contentious. He played plenty of his big songs and - a few quibbles aside - at an average Boss gig most attendees would have been happy enough. But even if he'd played Jungleland instead of Outlaw Pete it demonstrated the gap between playing to your home crowd and to folk that aren't that familiar with your stuff, even the opening track of your best album. Madonna seems to revel in actively pissing people off. The one time I saw her people were leaving in droves as she plugged away with MDNA album tracks. I quite enjoyed it and she didn't phone it in in terms of performance or production, but plenty of folk in glittery pink stetsons were livid. But they should book her anyway. She's fucking Madonna.
  9. West Holts 2019

They opened the Pyramid a few years back.......I think they also played The Gully the same year.
  10. West Holts 2019

They're probably about the right size for headlining WH in this day and age.
  11. Taylor Swift

For me the acapella Yazoo cover was the straw that broke the camel's back.
  12. LCD Soundsystem....

I think it's great....and not that it matters, but so did Alan Vega Suicide are an obvious influence on Nebraska.
  13. 2017 New Music Thread

The GospelbeacH album satisfies my autumnal power pop requirements. Janglefest.
  14. Nick Cave

I'm a bad motherfucker, don't you know? And I'll crawl over fifty good pussies Just to get to one bean casserole
  15. Nick Cave

    Long Black Kale
  16. Nick Cave

    Burnin' The Rice
  17. Acts you don't "get"

I'll not have my legitimate views silenced by the Picket Mafia. Big Acapella has dominated public discourse for way too long.
  18. Acts you don't "get"

I myself hate 100% of groups who dress up as snowmen and do acapella Yazoo covers on Xmas Top of the Pops.
  19. Acts you don't "get"

Liking about 10% of a given genre is actually quite a high ratio. Means you're probably the biggest hip hop fan on the board.
  20. Has anyone been to Primavera sound?

My friend got robbed in Barcelona and when we got to the tourist police station the queue of other folk queuing up to report was extraordinary. I've never seen anything like it.
  21. LCD Soundsystem....

The 'issue' for me is that it's steeped in a particular strain of doomy early 80s post punk that doesn't really do much for me in its original incarnation. Although that said Oh Baby is basically a riff on Dream Baby Dream, which is now so common a jumping off point that even Springsteen's a few years ahead of them.
  22. LCD Soundsystem....

The influence of Joy Division and Power, Corruption and Lies-era New Order is particularly heavy this time around. Calling it out isn't necessarily a criticism, but it is a stone fact.
  23. LCD Soundsystem....

His brother Fit Robot is in better condition.
  24. Taylor Swift

    Who's that?
  25. Acts you don't "get"
