  1. Blue 12 (East) was about 4 1/2 hours to get out of. The que didn't move at all, eventially someone got out of a car and put on a high vis walked up the line of car to goodness knows where and directed the traffic. Then the que jumping really started, as the people that jumped were getting out. The rest of the line didn't move. So 'everyone' jumped. A short while later the offical car park people turned up and directed the traffic, sending the guy in his high vis back to his car. The steward in our field was consantly reporting back. She had no support. So not as bad as I've had it in orange (about 6 hours), but not a quick exit either. Clearly the cars parks are never going to clear quickly. But there is no attempt to make the exiting 'fair'. This lead to the dangerous mix of que jumping in cars and people self directing the traffic. I wonder what would of happened if something went wrong.
  2. 1 - They'll head there when they've gone beyond feeling a little unwell. 2 - I have always taken mine home, and so have most people. Don't judge the many based on the few. 3 - Yes they did. It also helped people have a better time. I don't think that these links reflect the true situation. They just make this stuff up. However, I don't seem to be able to find offical figures to compare heat vs treatments. I'll just point out that if your feeling over hot, would you rather get some shade under quality gazebo or stay in the full sunlight. Hey, listen - you have a great festival. Take care of yourself and your friends. Drink water at least for some of the day.
  3. Really helps though. People putting up tarps over a number of tents would be worse. Which is what is now starting to happen. People take them for shade. Banning them doesn't solve it. 170k people can't find shade on the site. It isn't there. When people start to feel unwell, where do they go? Most will head back to the tents to see if that would help. If people are taking them home and putting them up correctly, what's the problem if it isn't space.
  4. So? A problem with one badly setup cheap gazebo some where else. (Ban them all then ! /s ) . https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/scorching-glastonbury-weather-sees-dozens-17273301
  5. yep, since 97. Last festival was 2017, so some small change is possible. There was a time when people started leaving far more stuff, including everything. Tents, cases of beer, clothes. It was shameful. You can't single out Gazebos. For people who took them home, they made a nice shady spot or even dry spot. I hope that, if we have a hot one, we don't see the medical people over run. Heat stroke is no fun. Why should people who did it right suffer? Clearly they shouldn't, but the enviromental side makes a great argument for not buying in more camping space.
  6. and yet, i've never seen it. Seems total fiction to me. The ban is only about the room that they take up. There isn't much shade onsite. The situation is helped by people having better tents. I'm in a minority, but I miss the gazebo. It was in the middle of four tents, where they opened out. We never left it. People used to leave tents, will they ban them next?
  7. It'll be just time time. Don't worry.
  8. it just slips over the ground stake. I used a broomstick for a few years. You'll be fine.
  9. @Franky I thought I did too... @The Pompey Mascot How do you plan to keep the flag from slipping down the pole? I was had a kit, which was purfect. The other option I considered was to sew a bit of rope with a knot in it to form a eyelette to thread a flag bungee through. (Top and bottom). Not sure how good my skills would be on that. But I think it would work. Burning plastic rope ends would stop it unravelling. I've always had an eyelette to work with. I've used the ring at the top of the pole and a couple of keyring fobs rings (IYKWIM) and tape before now. I've never had a problem with using the thin part of the pole. If it is strong enough for a fish, should be ok for a flag and a bit of wind.
  10. @Franky and @The Pompey Mascot Looks like you need to add eyelets to your flag. Otherwise how will you attach it ?
  11. 28 days ! Also, I've just noticed that the flag has a long seam for the pole but not the ring/eye holes top and bottom, so I've got to think how to get it to stay at the top of the pole. I think i'm going to have to sew something! Looks amazing though. It'll be worth it in the end.
  12. Our flag has arrived. Not lost after all. Looks fantastic. It did take extra days to arrive, amazon were hours from refunding me. Now it's here! Flag for our camp - Blue pig.
  13. No, they are from China. They've just chosen to look a bit more local. 😞
  14. No, I've got the lmited tracking that they've enabled. Form what I can tell, it entered a distribution centre in China and disappeared. Looking at the dates, I should get refunded and be able to reorder in time (from one of the other companies (all in China)). Amazon added a week on to the dates given effectively 'to see if it turns up'. This cuts it fine. If all else fails, it'll be the standard pirate flag...
