  1. I saw something the other day suggesting Alanis Morissette is building a tour. She's still my no1 female performer
  2. I saw Elton on Nottingham many years ago, and a newcomer called Rumer was his main support. I notice she's on the Accoustic stage this year....make of that what you will
  3. 22 for me - but I'm 70 this year, and I'm lucky if I can remember which day it is
  4. What a clown I am - I hadn't really understood the process and didn't know it was a scramble similar to the main ticket application, so I filled in my details and when I got to the bit where it said "Tick to confirm you've read the T&C's", I ACTUALLY DID!!! After I'd skimmed them, I tried to get back to the payment page and was horrified to find the spinning symbol of death in it's place. Disaster
  5. 69 years old.... time I grew up?
  6. Somebody in the Facebook Group just said it was 5-600 metres, but the later you arrive the further it gets. So around 5 minutes depending on what you're carrying
  7. A bizarre way to spend an hour on a sunny afternoon, but I thought I'd see which act was most popular across the years. Five points for an All Time Classic down to 1 for Very Weak. It took way longer than I thought it would and an audit would probably find loads of mistakes, but just in case you're in any way interested.......
  8. I was 60 in 2013, which was my first ever Glasto, so that probably explains how mainstream my choices are. While I was checking to see who played when, I can see I missed some brilliant acts in the 4 visits I've made so far. With the help of Spotify, Emily has expanded my musical horizons in every direction since then.
  9. I went to Wembley Tuesday with a friend. I rarely listen to them, but their music is reasonably tuneful, inoffensive and, importantly in the circumstances, familiar . I've seen them a couple of times (including at Glasto) so knew they would put on a brilliant show...and they really threw the kitchen sink at it, so much so that the music almost became secondary to the overall experience, which really was something else. At times it was almost overwhelming, there was so much going on, and for the first 90 minutes it really was exciting. The crowd were totally hyped and I felt I was seeing things I hadn't really seen done that well before. The songs were largely anthemic and probably written with huge crowd singalongs in mind, and Wembley can rarely have looked and sounded so good. As the night wore on, I guess the novelty of all the lights, wristbands, fireworks, confetti cannons, beach balls, and mini-stages wore off a little and I started to feel the music was a bit weak and 'samey' in places. However, I don't think they deserve all the criticism - they've become one of the biggest bands in the world and Chris Martin seems a genuinely nice guy. I don't see what's to hate.....
  10. I had to pull over and sleep in a layby on the way home, and also felt rough the next day. I tested negative though, so assumed I just had a cold. I was meeting some at-risk people Tuesday, so for their safety did another test which was also negative. Emboldened by that, I've just been carrying on as normal. However, yesterday I heard one of our group had tested positive, so I used my third test of the week which revealed the bad news with a thick, almost black line. I am supposed to be driving a group to Devon right now (3/7)) for a walking holiday (nobody else can drive), so that's around £900 on accommodation down the drain. I'm just thinking that if I hadn't taken that test yesterday I would have set off with a totally clear conscience, spreading germs wherever I went.
  11. I was out of the car park by 11:30, benefiting from moving the car down from Purple 2 to close to Gate B Sunday morning. Straight onto the road, and a nice getaway thanks to lots of closed roads. But then the week before and the late one Sunday night really hit me. I started yawning and rubbing my eyes, and then felt them actually closing....how scary is that at 70 miles an hour! I'm pretty sure I was asleep at the wheel for a split second, so I had to pull over about an hour's drive. I found a layby and fell straight asleep, waking up around 90 minutes later. By the time I got home I was knackered once more. I basically made it to the sofa and fell asleep again, waking at 10:30. Now I'm wide awake and ready to head out again, but this time with nowhere to go
  12. I'm 68 (which is running at 4.75% at the moment). My kids took me to my first one for my 60th birthday, which was perfect as it was the Stones year. Within 5 minutes of getting in on the Wednesday, I was walking to meet my lads when I was suddenly surrounded by 4 "youths" who started to take the piss - admittedly I was carrying a kettle in one hand, so maybe it was that, but it definitely felt like it was an age thing. Nothing came of it as my eldest lad met me almost immediately and gave them some gentle banter back, but it was a bit intimidating for some reason. This will be my 4th time and I'm just as excited as I was back in 2013. I've been totally obsessed about Glasto ever since, and only ever met lovely people, so no harm done.
  13. I've been sweating on mine since I got the email Tuesday as I'm away from home from tomorrow for 11 days. I've been busy packing etc, so it had actually slipped my mind when the door bell rang, so I went through that internal "who the hell could that be" stuff. What joy when I saw that little red van 😄
  14. That's me in then. What a rush. I was so excited I pushed the boat out and paid for the cancellation insurance
  15. Is it crazy to suggest Dua Lipa might pop up for a secret set somewhere - i.e low-tech stage setup like the Killers a few years back? That definitely seems achievable
  16. Alanis Morissette - I had tickets for the Birmingham gig and had to let them go because it clashed with Glasto....

    Campsite Poll

2013 - My first time. It was a 60th birthday present from my sons, who were regulars and knew the ropes. They were in at the crack of dawn and had set up 6 tents on Kidney Mead by 10:30 Wednesday. We could see and hear the Pyramid perfectly - I was amazed at the clarity of the sound when Jake Bugg kicked off. Although close in, it was quiet at night as everybody was drawn to other areas. Composting toilets were just down opposite the Pyramid, and were clean first thing, so my two main concerns (sleeping and toilets) evaporated on day 1. 2016 - Arrived midday Thursday - various friends were scatted around, but all reported no room. We eventually ended up at Lower Mead, at the bottom of the hill almost at the road crossing into Silver Hayes. The noise was intense - drum and bass pounded out throughout the night, and the tent seemed to be literally shaking. Many are saying it closed at 3, but I woke at 5 a couple of times and something was still booming away. Despite all of this we somehow slept like logs - I guess when you're completely knackered you'll sleep through anything. As we were at the bottom of a hill, and it was one of the muddiest on record, our pitch gradually became an island, but luckily no water got into the tent. Toilets OK, but at the top of the hill and quite long queues most of the time, even early morning. Lots of food stalls though. 2017 - First time of using the coaches, and didn't leave London until 10, so arrived mid-afternoon Wednesday. Struggled to find anywhere at first, and as I was carrying 2 tents, I didn't have the strength to look around too much (hottest day of the year, too!). I ended up climbing up past John Peel to what I think was Wicket (although the bit I was in definitely wasn't Families only). I think I'd aim for here next time, as it was very close to JP and its bars, and good for the central areas. A longs schlep to the Naughty Corner though. Some nice, clean long-drops, and a cracking breakfast bar all nearby. To be honest, I'd give anywhere a try. Each area has it's own good and bad points, and depending on when you arrive, you'll probably not have too much choice anyway. And wherever you find yourself, you'll have a blast....
  18. Any chance of putting the current A-Z rumours list on here as a temporary measure? I'm desperate to start my Glasto 2022 Spotify playlist up
