  1. Glastonbury #9 for me and the excitement is as real as it's ever been. Every time on the approach in, when I see the first sign written in the famous Glastonbury typeface, usually on a gate at the entrance to an off road with a steward sat there in a chair... it's the 'pinch yourself moment' as you know you're finally there. Not long now!
  2. Work done, on my way to Wembley Arena to see Rancid ahead of the early start on Wednesday morning to Victoria Coach Station. The irony is the gig was originally scheduled for Brixton which is only a 25 minute cab home. It getting moved to Wembley Arena means I'm now going to be getting home a lot later than I would have liked. Ahh well, let's be honest, I won't be sleeping much owing to the excitement anyway!
  3. I remember the Theatre and Circus bar having some decent craft options in 2017. Had a few different Brooklyn Beers on and it was the first time I tried 'Brooklyn Defender'. They also had some beers from the now defunct London Fields Brewery including 'Hackney Hopster'.
  4. Really hoping they don't drop 'My Michelle'! Easily my favourite GnR song ever since hearing an AFI cover of it on 'The Lock Up' on Radio 1 when I was a teenager. It was the late night punk show hosted by Mike Davis and he did an episode dedicate to punk covers, with that particular one being the stand out track. It definitely opened me up to diving in to GnR beyond the hits. They hadn't been playing it last year from what I saw on Setlistfm, so hopefully it's a more regular feature in their current run of shows and gets a run out on the pyramid.
  5. Despite everyone having to go through the pain of nightmare clashes, there also usually tends to be a perfect run of acts at some point over the weekend where the times and locations for acts you want to see seem to line up in perfect harmony. Mine falls on Saturday this year as follows: 12:30 - 14:00 - Channel One Soundsystem - Glade 15:15 - 16:00 - The Murder Capital - Woodsies 16:30 - 17:30 - Shame - Woodsies Back to the tent to stock up for the night ahead 18:45 - 19:45 - Manic Street Preachers - Other Stage 20:00 - 21:00 - Earl Sweatshirt - The Lonely Hearts Club 21:30 - 23:45 - Guns N' Roses - Pyramid Stage
  6. Ha! My team came second to you guys! Was bloody close and we were convinced at one point that we had that £100 bar tab in the bag. ** Just seen your follow up post. Ours was in the public bar. So yeah it definitely happens there in the main West Holt's bar. It's actually a really well put together pub quiz with some rough questions!
  7. Fri - The Damned Sat - GnR Sun - Elton (Although absolutely gutted about the QOTSA clash, so will see how I feel on the day)
  8. The Hives Kurt Vile (praying for him to be on at The Park)
  9. Hundred Reasons and Hell is for Heroes at Hammersmith Apollo on Saturday night. Both are still sounding fantastic live after all these years. Hell is for Heroes play with huge energy and really command the attention of the room. Hundred Reasons have a new album out for the first time in a decade and although not so much my cup of tea these days compared to their first two albums, their sound has really grown with them, rather than trying to recreate past glories and thats going to win them a lot of new fans. My Vitriol (remember them?) were also in support and fantastic. Although I'm fairly sure that they were reduced to playing through the stacks at the back, so that let them down a little bit as they play proper wall of sound stuff which deserves to be as loud possible through a full PA.
  10. Well that very quickly answers my above post 👍
  11. Am I missing something here? Did the original poster add in QOTSA to the list in their post because they're not mentioned anywhere in that Guardian article. Or, did the Guardian initial include them in the articles list and very quickly back track?
  12. Me and my partner are in the area today and thinking of visiting for a walk. Does anyone know what they are like with visitors now as obviously a lot has changed since the last post, including the actual festival itself taking place. Also, does anyone know where is best to park? Thanks
  13. Bad Religion Hall & Oates Action Bronson Manic Street Preachers Kurt Vile (Was gonna have Smashing Pumpkins as a choice but it looks like they're taking next summer off)
  14. Scrap that, getting my dates mixed up. Shame but Brixton will be great!
  15. They have the Friday free so it's not impossible, especially as they won't have a huge production set up to lug around. Potentially early Other Stage like Dropkick Murphy's a few years back? It'd be an amazing addition and I always think they're a great fit. Have seen pretty much all the big hitters in punk since I started going to gigs in 2002 but Rancid are the one band who have always eluded me. Either way I'll be at Brixton, but the prospect of either them or Bad Religion on the farm 👌
