  1. Interesting on BLACKPINK. Literally every other show they have this year is either their own headline gig or a Coachella headline. Plus they are in Australia only a couple of days before Glasto. Given that they are playing these huge shows, playing 3rd down the Pyramid (and therefore without their full production, which is critical to their show) just a couple of days after Australia feels unlikely - you've got to imagine they wouldn't accept the booking unless it was headlining a stage. And yet the possibilities for Other headline feel so stacked that it's unlikely. It's similar logic which says Fred Again is headlining a stage rather than just playing afternoon Pyramid - the show just needs it. For what it's worth I feel the same about Stromae. Active for the first time in years, has a #GSH, but his whole *thing* requires big production values, so he might end up being one that gets away too.
  2. Following on from this - the 80's nostalgia festivals often have Belinda and the Human League on. Other artists who frequently play high up the bill at those events would include Adam Ant OMD Midge Ure Kim Wilde Jimmy Somerville and this year there is a Soft Cell reunion, they are headlining most of the nostalgia fests this year (Marc Almond often plays solo further down the bill)
  3. He last played as sub-headliner in 2015, he does always play the more popular material from his solo era as well as a couple of Jam and Style Council numbers, but he definitely doesn't have the "play the hits" mentality needed for the legend slot.
  4. Entirely agree. Early afternoon Pyramid, or headline Acoustic Stage would be ideal
  5. He's not exactly one for playing a setlist full of the hits. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/mark-knopfler/2019/madison-square-garden-new-york-ny-39c2dbf.html
  6. Would love it if they just confirm the Arctic Monkeys and let GNR discourse continue all the way until we get the poster
  7. Do we reckon Nova Twins will be back? Only did BBC introducing stage in 2022 and their star has risen considerably with the Mercury and Brit nominations, such that they could now play one of the bigger stages with proper TV coverage. Looks like they are doing 2 festivals in Germany over the weekend but that doesn't preclude them being at the farm on the other day
  8. U2 had their go at doing the festival. General feeling was that it wasn't one for the ages (granted it was pissing it down). What's the logic that would make the festival book them again (unless they can't get anyone else)? Can't think of any other repeat headliners where it's generally accepted that their first go at headlining was weak.
  9. Yes, sure, it's definitely better at measuring the songs individually themselves, but it's not terrible on artists. For example Fleetwood Mac have generally better streaming stats than the Rolling Stones (both artists obviously have quite extensive catalogues), which to me feels correct as I'd say that FM are more popular than the Stones with the younger generations who tend to use streaming more in any case.
  10. Yeah it's obviously not a perfect metric in terms of establishing popularity, but what it is very good at is showing which established artists/songs are still popular now and have transcended the generations.
  11. The thought occurred to me - the apparent headliner trio is the first trio in a long time (maybe ever!?) where each artist has a song which has had over a billion streams on Spotify. AMs: Do I Wanna Know & Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High? GNR: Sweet Child O Mine Elton: Cold Heart Not even Paul McCartney has a billion-streamer, none of the Beatles songs have hit that milestone. Nor the Stones! Shows just what an enduring hit Sweet Child is. I'll likely be elsewhere, but the more I think about it, the more I find myself coming round to the idea that GNR in its current lineup is a stronger booking than many seem to think
  12. I do find it interesting that people are saying that Guns aren’t a good choice for headliner because they haven’t released any new music in years, when they literally have. Granted, it’s only 2 new singles, but they have been played live at every show since they were released in 2021
  13. Sam Smith's American tour kicks off a month after Glastonbury - got to imagine that makes an appearance on the farm from them a bit more likely. Other Stage headliner?
  14. They do have a #GSH and I'm sure I remember seeing someone post a while ago that they said they would do a couple of european festivals (although to be fair I'm struggling to find the source for this)
  15. Not quite the same thing but All Day & All Of The Night got played on both Other and Pyramid the same year in 2010 by the Stranglers and Ray Davies respectively Also It's A Sin was played twice on Other this year by two consecutive acts (Years & Years, PSB)
