  1. I reckon it could well have been even less - I'm just thinking of comparing it to something like Supernormal, and those very early Trucks felt smaller in comparison (although it didn't take too long for it to hit 5000 and start selling out). I really do miss the Truck of old, I wouldn't have dreamed of missing one prior to 2012 (even when I moved a lot further away) but I'm not sure I'll ever attend another one now myself. I didn't really enjoy my last visit for a few reasons and that's fine as it's really not aimed at me anymore, but luckily we do have a couple of excellent 1000ish capacity festivals that have a similar feel and ethos to the Truck of 25 years ago. Anyway I'll stop banging on about the good old days as the nurse is here with my medication.
  2. It was a lot of fun back then - just two stages over two days (Saturday and Sunday, no camping on the Sunday), you could camp literally next to your car when I first went and there was two security guards for the whole thing (who had the easiest job ever). There really wasn't much else like it back then, and I found a lot of good music through Truck.
  3. I missed the first year but did go in it's second year, which I think was 1999, so yeah it's been a long time. I'd say that post 2012 Truck is only really the same festival in name as it's a very different beast these days.
  4. Biffy have played Truck before but it was a long time ago (2005). They were good but not as good as Robochrist. I really miss those early Trucks and the likes of Nervous Test Pilot, Rock of Travolta etc
  5. Well work isn't fun this morning but that was a great weekend despite the weather. Sunday in particular was fantastic - a brilliant run of stuff that kicked off in the afternoon with Dr Buckles Bowie Bug, then Young Fathers were great, the Max Cooper 3D AV thing was mind bendingly amazing, then I caught the last 30 mins or so of Grace before finishing off with Scalping, who were outstanding. We had to get towed off the car park on Monday morning but that was relatively painless - it probably took 15 minutes from realising we were stuck and putting our hazards on to being towed by a tractor, it was all very efficient and well organised when I was fearing we'd be waiting hours.
  6. hi folks, I've just deceived to come to Best Kept Secret on a bit of a whim, swayed by the prospect of seeing both Aphex and the Chems at a festival in another country. It'll be my first overseas festival, I'll travelling alone but meeting up with a friend out there. I've had a quick look through the older threads but any hints and tips for going or things I should know? I'm trying to work out if I can get away with just a carry-on bag for the flight, is it chilly at night when camping there?
