Disappointed to see a lack of love for Flyte on this thread. In my mind they are one of the finest bands this country has produced in a long time and I'm so pleased they are finally getting to play Glasto. Avalon is a perfect stage for them and I implore anyone who loves harmony-drenched indie-folk and timeless songwriting reminiscent of Paul Simon, Crowded House, and Rubber Soul-era Beatles to go and see them. Their live shows are wonderfully wholesome. The lead singer, Will, is Billie Marten's partner and I would imagine she will be part of their live band setup. The Deep Blue have supported them and are vocally huge fans of theirs too. The Staves are also good friends of theirs as Jess Stave and Will were housemates for a few years and she also stepped in as part of their live band a few years ago when one of their original members left.

I can't remember for sure, but didn't the 'first poster' (in the format we know it as now) only become a thing from 2014 onwards? Also that 2013 poster was pretty much a full lineup for all the main stages?

She said she "hoped" to, which I would imagine means she is looking to do it within the next two years, yes. However, we all know that it won't be nailed on this far in advance. I was there, @gooner1990was there, neither of us heard her say I will definitely have 3 female headliners in the next two years. In fact she went to great lengths to explain why they are not in a postition to do that right now because the pool is quite small and more needs to be done to support and nurture female artists on their journey to get to that status.

Matt Healey is an Alumni of ACM (Academy of Contemporary Music) in Guilford which is where my son is currently studying. Plenty of other successful musicians have passed through there such as Ed Sheeran, Newton Faulkner, members of The Shires, Clean Bandit, Rudimental, Mumford & Sons, The Sugarbabes, and countless other musicians and producers who are in successful bands or producing successful music artists today. It's not an elite music school for rich kids with connections, it's just a very good music college that enroles students based on talent and a desire to be the best they can be, with expert tutoring from an army of talented people working in the industry themselves. Regardless of his parents connections, he has also honed his craft and put the work in to get where he is now.

She came across really well today. She never expected, or wanted, to do this long term, but once she found herself leading it, she was determined to do things her own way whilst still respecting the festivals history and ethos. She knew the festival needed to remain current to ensure it's longevity whilst not abandoning what makes it so special in so many people's hearts. A tricky balance to navigate, especially with her determination to drive the equal representation agenda in the face of a massively male dominated industry and the inevitable cynicism many people have viewed her with since she's taken over. No other festival can sell out every year without a single artist being announced until months later. So, i'd say she's smashing it to be perfectly honest.

Yeah, The 1975 have had huge success in America because his Mum was in Corrie and his Dad was in Auf Wiedersehen Pet. Whilst I get having successful parents opens doors and gives you the financial security to chase your dreams, it's nothing if you can't back it up with solid tunes and working hard to get to the level The 1975 are currently at globally. American record companies wouldn't have given a sh*t about Matt Healey's actor parents.

Andy Bell was booed off stage at Rewind last year. Headliner too. Apparently he was absolutely diabolical.

To clarify I said full lineup when she actually said "we've still got 2 female headliners and we're announcing the lineup next week" Stands to reason it will be the initial poster, as it has been for the last few years, then full lineup in May.

I agree, the key phrases she used was "hope to" and "in the future"

It absolutely was a lighthearted joke when she was being pushed to reveal more. She was laughing, as was everyone else in the room!

It was a great panel discussion. Lots of discussion about the recent 'misogyny in music' report which all the panelists said was probably the wrong word to use as it's not about "hatred" of women, more about the safety of female artists and freelancers in the industry. The general consensus was that things are improving but there is much, much more to do. Artists are becoming more vocal/taking more steps and being the change they want to see. Emily spoke about 99% of agents being male and the challenges that has brought over the years. She also said she probably winds a lot of bookers up forcing them the have a more equal representation of female artists on festival lineups over the years. "I can see them glazing over and thinking 'Oh God she's off again!'"

She responded to a specific question of "Do you see a time where there will be 3 female headliners at Glastonbury?" And she said something along the lines of "I hope so, but the pool of female artists who could headline right now is limited and more work needs to be done in the industry to support female artists on their journey to that status"
