  1. King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard

I remember someone somewhere (think it was Dental) said we need a Gizz thread, and with apparently four albums to come next year I wholeheartedly agree. Let's get these guys back to the farm in 2017, yeah? I'll start us off with a classic list. Feel free to follow suit. Nonagon Infinity Float Along - Fill Your Lungs I'm In Your Mind Fuzz Paper Mache Dream Balloon 12 Bar Bruise Quarters! Oddments Eyes Like the Sky
  2. King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard

Really excited for this new one, it seems like a lot of work's gone into it. Some of their recent albums (not that I didn't enjoy them) have been put together in a couple weeks, but there's been leaked demos of this next one believed to be called 'Polygondwanaland' (that I've so far still resisted listening to) knocking about since April, plus Crumbling Castle has been in the works since at least last August when they started doing it live. So I'm expecting something up there with Nonagon and Mind Fuzz. Crumbling Castle supports that hype imo so yeah, give it to me.
  3. King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard

Good jam, that. Love the heavy bit at the end.
  4. King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard

Yeah definitely have them down to sub End of the Road. Brixton is the kind of venue that EotR headliners play but I wouldn't go that far yet. Rumours going round that Pond might be the TBC support. Will be a huge gig if so.
  5. King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard

If I remember right Sketches hasn't been getting played at all even on the US dates where MHC supported. So I wouldn't read much into the choice of support, it's just their mates showing up to play before them. And they'll have 2 more albums out by then anyway. Mad that they're playing Brixton now though. Proud of my boys but hope we get some smaller venues too, a Bristol date would be dreamy.
  6. King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard

Gizz are just in a perpetual state of 'man, their next tour can't come round soon enough'. I thought 3 sets at Glasto would satisfy me for a bit but no. Hope they do a decent size tour and hopefully I can get to a couple of them. Another Bristol date would be dreamy - but would they be too big by now to play the kind of little venues there they used to do?
  7. Tour Announcements & Upcoming Gigs

Has to be a point of bubble popping for the relentless price gouging going on at the moment surely? It can't be sustainable, it'll put people off entirely with time.
  8. PSB vs PSB

Nice show last night, I'd have cut a few of the longer slower tracks which did lose the audience (myself included) a bit but the obvious high points were wonderful. Still not sold on the new album stuff tbh aside from Progress which was cracking. The venue of Exeter Cathedral in itself was phenomenal and did make the gig feel special though perhaps PSB musically aren't the most suitable act for such a space. Have fun those seeing them on the rest of the tour!
  9. LCD Soundsystem....

"Glastonbury Festival is like a middle classy hippy festival, really annoying. I've specifically never been because I know the sort of people that go to Glastonbury every year. And the Reading festival was always way better, the music was way better too, but the cool kids went to Reading." - Carl 'Sargon of Akkad' Benjamin All you need to know about him tbh. Also I love LCD Soundsystem.
  10. PSB vs PSB

Anyone catching PSB (the good one) on their upcoming tour? Just grabbed a ticket for their show at Exeter cathedral tomorrow which somehow I didnt know was a thing until an ad for it popped up a couple days ago. Should be a good one - only caught them once in an afternoon slot on the second stage at BST Hyde Park which doesn't really suit any band well so looking forward to getting the full experience.
  11. LCD Soundsystem....

I mean anyone who associates with that asshat Sargon of Akkad can fuck off really, can't they?
  12. The National

Yep definitely got them down for Citadel, don't think there's many other places they'd fit in well.

Synths are one thing, I think the most jarring thing for me is the tone of it, it's dark and serious in a way he's very rarely been before. That's not a bad thing in itself of course.

Fresh hot Ezra Furman for you all here. It's a massive shake-up - he's ditched his Boyfriends band and now has a new one called the Visions, and the result sounds nothing like what he's done before. Not quite sure what to make of it really, hope it grows on me but I'm a bit puzzled at first with all the kind of abrasive electronic stuff that's going on here. I hope the new album still brings out some tracks that keep the sense of 'fun' that his last couple had. We'll see, anyway.

Would be a bit more gutted by the Wild Beasts split if they hadn't been a bit disappointing at Glasto. Still, much love for the bangers they gave to the world.
  16. Bon Iver 2017

    Where've you seen this please?
  17. Gorillaz

My plans to grab a cheap ticket for the o2 have been foiled by the realisation that they're doing that name checking bullshit. The gig's been on sale for months and hasn't sold out! Massive pain in the arse and pointless anti-fan bollocks. Am still very keen to see them though, sets are shaping up nicely especially now On Melancholy Hill and Feel Good Inc are back in there. So maybe I'll cough up for one of the remaining seats.
  18. LCD Soundsystem....

Yep they did last time I was there, should be signposted.
  19. Predictions for 2018

Personally like their latest stuff a lot but even if you don't the live shows definitely haven't slipped. Amazing as ever.
  20. The National

Both Justin Vernon and Lisa Hannigan play/sing quite a bit on Sleep Well Beast so they're not exactly randoms.
  21. Bon Iver 2017

Still mad about this. Bet he's booked for Citadel or something.
  22. The National

turtleneck is a huge banger and I kind of wish there was a version of the national that primarily made stuff like that. not to the extent that I'd trade it for the national that we have, obviously.
  23. Predictions for 2018

Reckon King Gizz could sub it next year? Played directly after Real Estate at this year's Glastonbury.
  24. The National

After a week with this record I am really loving it. Think it's their 'In Rainbows,' and quite possibly their best album. 'Dark Side of the Gym' remains my favourite but it's just wonderful throughout, with so much detail put into every song. Wish I was seeing them!
