Is he banned? He can still up and down vote posts?

Yeah he still comes on here just to upvote and downvote stuff cos he's obsessed but he's banned from doing anything else. Sad!

IIRC Gucci Piggy spoke to the daughter of one of the members of the band and confirmed our suspicions, something like that, and yes - pretty sure this was pre t-day

Please unban beloved forum poster Guggy Pig so he can give us the details on who's headlining this year x

    100% Agreed.

    Kendrick Lamar - Alright

Have previously tried to give him a go because of all the acclaim on here.  Felt like I was missing out, but just not getting it.

Just wasted 7 mins listening to this nonsense - words fail me ...

My musical tastes are all over the place and I am not the sort of person who sticks to one or two genres - good music is good music at the end of the day, but seriously this is complete tosh and cannot believe he is being held up as a potential headliner.

    Hard hat on ....

    ok boomer!

That's a good point! I actually like that venue. What was the last significant gig held there?

    I think it was Foos?

They had the EDC festival there the year after if that counts. I think bands just tend to use the stadium if they're playing in MK now, probably saves a lot of money.

Won't be Dylan, don't worry. The fella who posted that on the Glasto Chat FB group has also stated he's 'heard from industry sources' that Biffy Clyro are headlining Friday and Slipknot on the Saturday.

Biffy Clyro /  Bob Dylan / Slipknot is like some kind of bizzaro alternate reality Glastonbury line-up. Respect,

Yes although making assumptions based on someone's appearance often leads to correct outcomes. The problem is when it doesn't.

Anyway just to point out that I'm not offended or angry about not being allowed in. I had no real desire to go in, just a curiosity as to what their response would be to my attempting to go in. I'm also not keen to discuss it any further as I have work to do.

    you're so lame dude

I've made time in my busy schedule of shooting feature-lengths and reciting Shakespeare to anyone who will listen to see The 1975 this weekend in Paris.

In the great 1975 v Foals debate that has swelled and ebbed over on the Headliners chat I've always firmly come down on the side of Foals, although I honestly haven't listened to The 1975 since their first album singles were rinsed & repeated back on R1 back in 2013. However I'm interested to see where the belief in them as future/potential headliners originates. Anyone got suggestions on which songs of theirs a headline set doth make?

It'll look like this but with some more off their 2020 album. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/the-1975/2019/little-johns-farm-reading-england-3b9f2418.html

  8. song's dumb as hell but it kinda slaps. at least he's letting the instrumental carry it rather than making another "kevin 'least-charismatic-frontman-in-music' parker tries to be a popstar" song.

  9. lmao someone told me this thread was a shambles I didn't think it'd be this fuckin bad. anyway capitalism is a bastard ideology destined to destroy the planet if it isn't stopped and anyone with half a brain cell is opposed to it but most importantly @Matt42 stop leaving the 1975 off yr damn fake posters.

do we definitely expect an announcement at the book launch?

I think people are speculating that there might be a headliner announced around the release of the book to get attention on it, but that doesn't necessarily mean an announcement at the launch.

  11. I really like the album tbh. Not necessarily for the reasons he wants me to but he remains a fascinating artist. It's like he's really straining himself to make this deeply sincere gospel redemption thing but he's such a fundamentally weird and narcissistic guy that the resulting album ends up being incredibly sad and creepy. I figure it's not going to work at all for a lot of people - there's not a single bop or banger on the thing. But I find it really compelling and I think those put off by it will come around in a while.

On a side note, I really disliked Ye when it released but somehow this album's made it make a lot more sense to me. They really feel like part of the same project somehow.

Could the festival have double headliners next year, with another big band in third spot ?

    How about-

    Friday -Foals, Pulp and Aerosmith

Saturday- Paul McCartney, The 1975 and The Kinks

Sunday- Taylor Smith, Coldplay and The Spice Girls

No evidence that Pulp are about to reform and play, other than I didn’t get tickets and it would annoy me to miss them.

    Nope

You're right about that, but I imagine most people are/were thinking more of the likes of McCartney, Elton, Fleetwood Mac and for the ultra ambitious, Led Zeppelin. Taylor, Kendrick and the 1975, whilst being strong in terms of currently popular names that do well in the charts, would alienate a large number of attendees (not just the non-youth, rock fans too) in a way that the festival never has before. It's great to be fresh, but that's probably going a bit too far, especially it's there's any notion of paying tribute to the 50 years (still not sure on that part personally).

imagine a glastonbury festival that wasnt hamstrung by having to cater to the boring ass tastes of 'rock fans'... what a glorious dream

    Lol pipedown question marks.

The mans had tens upon tens of millions of album sales, has hundreds of millions of streams, play theatres of upto 2k capacity but often sells them out in runs so the total can be comfortably 10k+ in certain towns with 5 nights.

He has dwelled in the support tier for festivals recently sure but the fact of the matter is, the 1975 or foals would be getting a massive leg up just by virtue of the fact they are the only bands that are contemporary and even look mildly like sizeable. But the quality ain’t there.

And comparing to other recent ’legend’ headliners, why can for example the who dine out on baba o reilly still? Van has probably had more top 10 albums in the last 20 years than they did in their career. And one of them is a pedo.

Go and listen to astral weeks from start to finish. And don’t do it in a bad mood just because somebody called you a dum dum on an internet forum or else you won’t like it, dum dum.

literally van mccann would get a higher slot
