If you thought Beck and The National had bored and disinterested crowds oh boy wait till TWOD hit the stage

The National impressed everyone except those who knew their songs and hoped they’d play their favourite ones. A non-fans set.

Oh 100% (clearly some acts have to be playing on the Friday). More I was saying that some might just have the first date of the festival in their eyes listed while it’s finalised. Have def seen similar happen on artists tour pages before

Yeah. Some will, some won't. I think a pinch of salt is taken with many of those. There is always a margin of error between the info we put together and the actual stage splits but it's alls we got!

It’s not arrogant or condescending, pretty sure no one here has predicted him for a big slot. When I first suggested Megan or Doja could play the first things people said back were “who are they”. Pointing out that efestivals skews one way demographic wise isn’t arrogant or condescending. Quite a lot of people here come to the festival for your classic rock, 00s/10s indie bands, and acts that crossover with primavera etc. it’s not offensive for me to point that out.

Every time someone disagrees though you say something about either the person/people not being the right demographic to understand, or being biased by what they like.

How is it not condescending to insinuate that everybody else's judgement is blighted EXCEPT you, and that you're apparently the only one who can see objectively?

You need to realise that the avatars here are people who come on here for comfort, entertainment and community - not to be made to feel excluded or small, by someone who is just guessing as much as anyone else.

    Alright, fair hit.

Though tbf at least you'd imagine it wouldn't be like what happens at some football matches with people merrily going "They're here, they're there, every fucking where, empty seats"

I went to Victoria Warehouse and chanted "whaaat a fuuuucking shithole!".

Also by demographic clash what I mean is, on here we will predict acts that are on our radar for the big slots - because we all know them and are familiar for them.

I doubt many people on here listen to Burna Boy so they don’t understand his size. I don’t listen to him but I’m aware that he’s a big deal. People who spend most of their time at silver hayes, couldn’t give a fuck about McCartney, and probably head to the south east corner around headline time would see Burna Boy as a pretty big pull. I also can’t vision him playing in a tent again if he’s been playing on mainstages and arenas for the past year.

In my mind it’s a perfect option against McCartney because it’s appealing to people who probably wouldn’t be at McCartney anyway.

Why do you keep on with shit like this?

Is it not possible that other people do understand his size but just don't agree with you? You're even saying here that you don't actually listen to him but you still have a better idea than everyone else!

Also, massive assumption on your part of who people on here are, what they listen to, what they know about music.

Not sure how many more people are gonna have to pull you up on your goading and tell you that you're being arrogant and condescending until it sinks in but sooner that day comes, the better.

We’ve not had any indication what day/where Fontaines DC and Amyl and the Sniffers are playing do we?!

It's not confirmed but I think Amyl and the Sniffers will be supporting the Hella Mega Tour in the UK again as they were booked to before, which would designate them for Sunday only.

If Burna returns to the JP he’s the biggest act in that tent by far. Plays arena shows all over the world.

I think we are underestimating his size because there’s a demographic clash on here.

    🙄

Again, he was booked there last time after selling out Wembley Arena. It's nothing to do with who we are, it's to do with where the bookers put him last time.

Fair enough, who the hell is the mystery saturday headliner? I really feel like they are on the poster, the only person I could think of is Doja Cat, Meghan thee stallion isn't big enough I think.

Meg is easily big enough. She's headlining other UK festivals this year. The one she isn't headlining, neither is Doja Cat or Burna Boy.

I think it'll be her or Doja as having a major, current female popstar makes sense as a Dua replacement. I can't see it not being one of those two, or even Lorde in a pinch.

When the Sun article came out saying Dua Lipa was on the Other Stage, it said this:

"There was definitely an argument to say Dua should have been on the Pyramid Stage, but Emily wanted to have her on board as a headliner. She wants male and female artists to be equally prominent on the festival’s bill this year."

It reminds me of R.E.M also, who would play small venues under entertaining names (the most well known alter-ego for R.E.M was called Bingo Handjob) to try out new material live.

Dozens of dudes showing up and being disappointed to find out it's an R.E.M concert.

I have never gotten the Springsteen vibe from any Arcade Fire songs, or at least I can't recall any? Not being argumentative btw, genuinely interested in which songs give you that vibe?

Keep the Car Running, Intervention, Antichrist Television Blues, Modern Man, City With No Children, Half Light II

Lyrically their tales of small-town adolescence and breaking out of towns and all that is prime Bruce. The expansive anthemic rock is too.

Keep the Car Running is probably the clearest one, and The Boss even performed it with them one time.

Maybe someone already mentioned, but after several listens - war on drugs influence? (And therefore Springsteen influence)

Also think Sam Fender largely does a Springsteen impression. Is this the new hegemony of sound for rock acts? - Springsteen revival

I ain’t complaining if so. Daddy likey

Arcade Fire were doing that as early as 2007. Nothing new for them. This song does however seem influenced by 2007 Arcade Fire.

Obviously we have Turnstile, but who else from Outbreak could realistically play? Deafheaven? Nothing?

    Yeah, nothing probably.

Class joke aside, Mannequin Pussy seem a good shout with what you’ve mentioned and I think Chubby and the Gang will do one or two slots at the fest. Just seem like they’re getting that little bit of underground buzz that festy bookers like.

As fantastic as that is I’d temper expectations. Especially as it’s on Moyles show. Could just be another Elland Road gig and Moyles is a big Leeds fan as are the Kaisers obviously.

    Relegation party?

I’ve got for the white vinyl from Lost In Vinyl.

Not cheap though! 32 quid delivered for seven tracks!

I've gone for the webstore's black vinyl. Finding out that the poster comes with that too swayed me. I'll take a black vinyl and a signed postcard over an exclusive white vinyl this time.

The seven tracks are gonna be 5-6 minutes long, it seems, so we're still being well-fed.

Went for the same one myself. The picture disc on their webstore looked interesting, but I'd rather have a lovely gatefold sleeve with nice artwork than a picture disc in a clear plastic sleeve.

I thought the same. It is nice. They should probably have put up a bundle with just the vinyl and picture disc so you could put them in the same sleeve if you wanted, rather than adding like CD's and cassettes in too.
