  1. I don't see the logic in KISS missing Download this year to do their own concerts and then doing a final-ever UK show in 2020. The 2019 summer of doing some festivals and some own shows reads to me like some major festivals can't really be arsed booking KISS again for their latest goodbye gigs when they can book better sellers or cheaper acts who would do about the same business.

If they can get Maiden, Metallica and Rammstein as a top three then forget about KISS.

Anyway in roughly the same sphere what about AC/DC / KISS / Aerosmith / Ozzy Osbourne / Green Day. Do they meet your clearly ridiculous standards of bands big enough to headline Glastonbury?

Those rumours have already been binned.

Pretty sure they play Download or Reading mate.... avoid the prawn sandwich brigade.

    PSB vs PSB vs PSB

My Chemical Romance and Blink 182 both rumoured to reform later this year or early next year, could they headline Glastonbury?

No they aren't. You're making up shit for your imaginary imagination. G-Way is bringing out a solo album and Tom Delonge is living life as a broke Elon Musk.

I've heard a rumour, which I strongly believe to be true, that they're playing Ashton Gate in Bristol next June, so that would put them strongly in the frame for a Glasto appearance.

Oh really? Seems like a pretty weird venue for Massive Attack to do, but also kinda cool that they're doing it.

I think a Glastonbury return would be rather pointless unless they're cooking up new material - guessing they're not from there being a Mezzanine tour.

I'm assuming something like Liam Gallagher had last year. Which wasn't even much of a lads day outside of the first two and last two acts.

    I see.

But yeah, Liam Gallagher was booked cos he was one of the biggest acts available to headline, not because he’s adored by “lads”. And I can’t ever see an outcome where the Courteeners are one of the biggest acts that TRNSMT could book.

Is this a guess or a fact?

It’s a fact. Think it’s a few years old though but I can’t see the demographic having changed significantly in that time.

  7. Possibly unfair, misguided and overly rockist but the pop headliners of Glastonburys past and pretty much all of the suggested potentials have massive hits that have penetrated a wider consciousness; I don't think Ariana Grande has a single one and will mainly appeal to people actively tuning into the pop channels/stations and breathing it in. This is no good for Glastonbury and its average age of 39. By the looks of it, she will eventually reach that level but we can probably lay off seriously considering until then.

Lol even at their peak of cultural relevance they were only playing West Holts. If they did get booked it'd be, like, headlining a stage in Silver Hayes or something.

They subbed the pie & mild.

I was thinking of Chvrches as a possible sub, but I see their upcoming tour is mostly academies apart from Alexandra Palace. Usually subs have to be arena sized, but would this be realistic either way?

Nah. This new album didn't really do anything for them, and they didn't even sub at Parklife this year. Probably a decent shout for R1 headliner or third/fourth down Main but subbing would surely be beyond them.

    edit: this c**t

New tune from the old singer of Palma Violets is quite nice.

Yep. Fan of this. I'd seen their name and picture pop up but hadn't realised it's Chilli Jesson's band. Strange that Palma Violets have branched off into two bands - must be a story there.

  11. Not often Later really introduces me to anything new that I’m entirely bothered about but Another Sky were pretty good and different as things go.

Interpol, perhaps unsurprisingly, practically yawned out all their songs and their run through of my favourite track on the new album, Flight of Fancy, was turgid. Boo-anks.
