I think Sigrid being billed below The Vaccines was what led to the infamous claim of them being boosted up the lineups because of covid. But yeah, as Matt says, her placings seem a bit up and down this year so I could easily see her taking an equivalent sort of slot to last time or early Pyramid.

I'm gonna cable tie myself to a goalpost until Sigrid gets better slots at festivals.

This is actually a bit like The Vaccines where their music got progressively better but they were being repeatedly punched in the face by the festival placings they received from 2015 onwards.

Sigrid is getting lowballed at quite a lot of festivals. I don’t think she’s someone who commands very high slots.

Fucking hell, you're not wrong. She's playing Standon Calling where Loyle Carner (remember him??) is a headliner and she is not.

    Dab down Sigrid

Sigrid higher? I'd say that's about right for her and could maybe even be 6th down Pyramid. I think Celeste is confirmed for that slot, though to be fair I thought she'd be higher too.

Really? That's quite low for Celeste.

Sigrid was third down Other at the last festival and she's playing Wembley Arena this year, right? Such an early slot on the Pyramid seems like she's going the opposite way.

    IMO...

Need to be higher: Idles, Celeste, Sea Power, Sigrid, Angelique Kidjo, First Aid Kit

Need to be lower: St. Vincent, Turnstile, Roisin Murphy, Snail Mail, Soccer Mommy, Ghetts

Need to be Sunday: Amyl and the Sniffers

Need to be Other Stage: Paolo Nutini, Olivia Rodrigo

That Other sub shout probably wasn't actually info: Burna Boy

  5. Question isn't about size, really. More suitability to the Glastonbury audience. I don't really know the answer to that one but a special guest slot would be a decent litmus test.

Or else they've already booked him for next year and he's doing a secret this year, killers set a precedent?

The Killers weren’t meant to play until Macca dropped out so wasn’t a consideration when booking the secret set. Put them in the good books, mind.

That would be a pretty great replacement for the usual Wednesday opening night which isn't happening this year. Seems realistic too, the main venues Primavera are using for the midweek shows seem to be free on the Wednesday and it's pretty similar to what LCD did in 2016 and Win and the lads in 2017, albeit that one was on the main site.

A quick jaunt over from Toronto and then a run of European dates in late May/early June still seems possible.

Yeah. It’s a bit different to having a band already playing doing double duty but they’re all already doing double duty…

I would be surprised if they didn’t do small UK shows in May/June. Even without Ken’s info, it’s just something they do.

They’re now confirmed to be playing in Toronto on the 15th May, that surely affects the rumoured European run in May right?

They seem to be getting around quite quickly so probably not.

I wonder if they might drop a club date in Barcelona prior to Primavera as a thing to do with playing next year. I would say during the week between but it’d be shitty to the bands losing attendance from it.

The easiest way to rationalise it in my mind is if they already have 2023’s headliners sorted and basically this year is the only chance for him to play for a very long time.

Maybe his team don’t think he will ever get the call, so a special set hits harder.

I’m convinced by this logic. I don’t expect it, but a ‘special guest’ slot announced close to the festival or on the day is low-risk compared to a headline set whichever year. He’d be divisive as fuck as a headliner months in advance but just another name to miss for someone else when the schedule is set.

He’s British and a music fan so he’ll want to cross Glastonbury off despite the stadium gigs. Robbie Williams Pyramid 98 type shit.

And as you say, given the runners for the same slot as him, (Taylor, Dua, Abel, Olivia) he’s pretty unfavoured. Best opportunity.

Edit: I don’t believe that his team ‘planted the story’ though.

  10. You could actually use that to justify Harry Styles playing the Pyramid on Friday, seeing as Elbow seem like they could've been swapped over from Friday into that vacated slot.

Obviously Harry Styles isn't playing though and it's likely that's why Doja Cat popped up despite exclusivity, but I'm saying you could if you wanted to.

I don’t know that poster but they put the Saturday on their tour dates all three of the times they were booked so I’m not sure that’s true.

They gave us the info on Foals headlining Other and Sam Fender playing lower down the Other Stage. And some other stuff along the years.

Depends. They’ve added a sub before but my thinking is there is an Aerosmith sized gap in the lineup now, that became open around the same time the Harry news came out.

They were down to play third down Sunday.
