  1. King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard

They were £15 entry with two other Castle Face bands just over a year ago tho. Then £21 earlier this year. Does seem an unreasonable rate of increase but I'll probably pay it closer the time.
  2. Lineup 2018

But Reading and Leeds have been palming him off with solo sets on the FR stage or ‘special guest opening act’. Why would they suddenly give him a big slot? Festivals like Boardmasters and Victorious aren’t even giving him decent slots.
  3. Lineup 2018

I think so personally. How rare is it that an act does stadiums and R+L in the same summer? To me it’s 50-50 and will probably slide negatively if they add more dates at those venues.
  4. Lineup 2018

That arena tour was a long time ago. He’s supported arena shows since then. I think they’d have had him back this year in a prominent slot if he was worth one.
  5. Ayy that Saturday's cool as shit. Honeyblood and Moose Blood already played those positions this year tho. And I think All Time Low would headline NME, particularly over Manson.
  6. Lineup 2018

That tour's only been going about a year. They don't tour prolifically but a new greatest hits would be enough reason to do another summer I guess - but as you say they're all staples that don't really need selling.
  7. St Vincent Tour

Been doing the same. I’d not rated the new singles but revisiting her discog has me convinced they’ll be great in the context of what will be another tremendous record.
  8. Lineup 2018

They don’t seem to actually tour that frequently but if they start touring that greatest hits album then I think there’s a very good chance of them headlining. Remains to be seen whether they would tour it though - don’t suppose they need to.
  9. Lineup 2018

Royal Blood have sold tens of thousands of tickets to their arena tour this year whereas alt-J were struggling to sell out smaller venues last month than when they subbed. Why a much smaller band validates another’s headline status, I do not know.
  10. King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard

Heh watch Gizz play Manchester the same night as Oh Sees again.
  11. Lineup 2018

Not yet. Nah it sells out every year regardless. Besides, people said this year’s would sell out quicker because of three established repeat headliners and it didn’t, if anything showing that people wanna see headliners that haven’t headlined everything here recently. I know The Killers don’t exactly fit that but they haven’t been at Reading for a decade. Probably has those weird cover bands that Spotify used to have before it had all the artists.
  12. Lineup 2018

FIFA 18 soundtrack is way too good for R+L. More likely Pro Evo.
  13. Lineup 2018

Starting to think about it not being Foo Fighters or Arctic Monkeys. It’s rare that Reading gets anyone with any stadium shows and with a holdup on the Arctics’ album, it’s possibly neither. If we’re looking for major, verified headliners elsewhere then Radiohead would be an extremely good result, The Killers a bad but more likely one, guess GNR falls between those two poles.
  14. Lineup 2018

I could see them adding dates to make it up to five across the venues, then do TRNSMT as well - would be unlikely then, I reckon. Alternatively they could leave as is and do GSS and R+L. Doesn’t seem conclusive until we know what else they’re doing and when.
  15. 2019 festival

I thought people wanted to hear less Only Revolutions and more early stuff?
  16. The Friday would be aight too. Oh man you gotta play me like that w/ the Leeds Friday headliners? Looks good tho. 30 Seconds to Mars between Arctic Monkeys and Courteeners/Wombats would be weird af. They'll just get Alex Turner chants throughout
  17. Foo Fighters

I'm expecting MK Bowl for Queens too because they've had the likes of Pearl Jam and The Prodigy - not bona fide stadium acts here - headline it over the past decade and also Queens added a second London date at Wembley Arena a few weeks after the O2 show sold out so they're not keeping demand low for a London outdoor show. They're meant to be doing a Scottish outdoor show too aren't they? I suppose that might come under TRNSMT seeing as that's a Live Nation affiliated thing but also maybe their own thing.
  18. Tour Announcements & Upcoming Gigs

Some info here on how it's not really the acts that are personally ripping you off cos they think their wares are so worthy. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2017/jan/30/where-does-concert-ticket-money-go
  19. King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard

New album from labelmates ORB came out on Friday. It'll probably do ya right if you're a Gizzhead, definitely if you're a Ty Segall fan.
  20. Lineup 2018

I feel like a long tour (6+ dates) might nix R+L, but just one date would practically confirm it. Just a feeling though wrt their demand.
  21. Foo Fighters

It’d be the earliest they’ve announced by at least a month, as far as I can recall. And I think any festival that was about to announce them would be doing their own teasers too or sharing the existing ones. Makes you think it’s their typical UK stadium tour they’re doing - tho that doesn’t make festivals impossible.
  22. British Summer Time 2018

We’d have heard off BST by now if there was another headliner coming so soon wouldn’t we? Besides, Foos can sell out Wembley twice over so BST is a bit beneath them (or I’d think as much).
  23. Foo Fighters

Nah it’ll be their own shows I suppose. Way too early to announce R+L.
  24. Liam Gallagher

The album's set to break 100k sales this week, which is around each of Beady Eye's albums' opening weeks combined. That's a ridiculous upturn. I know Noel has an open goal when it comes to the battle for quality of albums this year but I'd be surprised if he outstrips the sales.
  25. 2019 Headliners

But would you make the same point about inoffensive rock bands? That was more my point. Anyway I really can't see Emily getting contacted by his peeps or whatever and thinking to herself "Sam Smith is big and all over the radio and charts but fuck is he boring and this festival will not stand for milquetoast mewlers". She'll add him to basket and prepare to hype him up as much as possible to muster that deficit of interest.
