  1. Pendulum in the daylight will be absolutely fine.
  2. Militarie Gun have made this announcement for me. Cannot wait.
  3. Reckon the Chevron Stage will be open air? Basically like MSW? Hopefully the run goes: Main Stage Headliner #1 > Chevron Headliner > Main Stage Headliner #2
  4. Blink and Prodge can’t clash NOOOOO
  5. Top 10 acts I’m hoping for: Turnstile A Day To Remember The Story So Far 100 gecs The Libertines Joey Valence & Brae Militarie Gun The Vaccines Chase & Status Lorna Shore (lol)
  6. Speed are a hardcore band from Sydney haha. They’re playing Download though so can’t see them coming back over in August.
  7. As far as I know, he hasn’t done any dodgy salutes during gigs since that Dimebash event. If he did one there and then, for sure I’d be clearing off. I don’t think they’ll get dropped, not now. They’ve been announced for months.
  8. They’ve said that Slam Dunk will be their final UK shows so I’m guessing they will announce a farewell tour pretty soon after they’ve played there.
  9. Come on, gang. Let’s focus on the announcement. Top 10 realistic acts you’re hoping for?
  10. Why would I? Because you can’t think of a response?
  11. So the thousands of people who are going to watch them are all terrible people? Is that what you’re saying? You, nor anyone else, have the right to tell others who they should be watching. I don’t have to justify my choice to watch Pantera but I will; Phil’s views don’t make their way into the music, which makes it a lot easier to separate the art from the artist. Am I going to buy Pantera merch? No. Am I going to buy Pantera records? No. Would I pay to watch them at their own show? No. But I will watch them at a festival I’m going to because they’re some of the best metal songs ever written. Listening to artists who have said or done bad things does not make a bad person. The discussion is far more nuanced than that.
  12. That being said, I’ll definitely be having a great time watching Pantera at Download.
  13. Do you even know what virtue signalling means? Because pointing out someone’s racist behaviour (caught on camera) isn’t virtue signalling.
  14. Are you a bit thick? Phil is fat and bald in the Dimebash video. He’s young with long hair in the video above? Quite obviously two separate incidents decades apart. You don’t have to look too far to find compilations of Phil giving speeches in the 90s about white pride. Plus, you know, Dime’s massive Confederate flag guitar.
  15. Phil literally threw up a nazi salute and shouted white power at the top of his lungs. He also has a long history of giving dodgy speeches at Pantera gigs. Alex Terrible literally has / had a nazi tattoo. Both of these things are factual.
  16. Just a guess because every festival under the sun has been making additions this week.
  17. Calling that we will get the poster mid next week.
  18. Heilung into Bad Omens is a choice… Very curious to see how Polyphia go down on the Main Stage. Virtuosic, almost entirely instrumental music.
  19. Off the back of this announcement: My Chemical Romance / Sleep Token / Don Broco Sabaton Iron Maiden / Trivium (Ascendancy) / Spiritbox Lamb of God Ghost / Bullet For My Valentine (The Poison) / Gojira Amon Amarth
  20. Black Stone Cherry, Mr Bungle, The Struts, Those Damn Crows, Biohazard, The Offspring, Enter Shikari, Babymetal, Pantera, While She Sleeps, Tom Morello, Fear Factory, Asinhell, Dying Fetus, Avenged Sevenfold, Limp Bizkit, Machine Head, Corey Taylor, The Black Dahlia Murder. I’d chuck QOTSA in there too. Those are all bands who would appeal to your more ‘traditional’ Download audience and loads who have played the fest before in the past.
  21. They overlapped ever so slightly.
