There are acts like Beyonce who emerged in that period that are a big deal, but I can't see them plotting out their calendar quite so far in advance.  I mentioned in the other thread that it would require them to arrange any future tours so as to accomodate a single gig arranged years beforehand.

Arctic Monkeys would be a band from that period who could conceivably plan their trajectory around it

Kasabian would be another one, but hopefully it won't come to that.

True but I'm fully expecting Arctic Monkeys in 2019. They'll probably have a new album out by next Summer, so doing Glasto 2 Summers later would be odd.

If they've got 2 headliners lined up 3 years in advance I would guess they're headliners for whom having new material doesn't matter (Macca, U2, Blur, Fleetwood Mac, Stone Roses).

If I were to guess one it'd be Blur. Can see Macca coming back for another bash one day, too.

  2. Getting tickets for the remaining 2 in my group in the secret resale in 2015 was such a great feeling. One of my mates I got em for was in an exam at the time and hadn't read our group chat where I'd told them I'd got tickets. He got onto the bus home from college totally unaware that he'd had a glasto ticket for a few hours until we told him.

You may be onto something. I have not seen the booking page for 3 sales now and have tried various numbers of windows, tabs etc and manually F5'd.
I have always got a booking page at least once prior and now nothing.

I think I shall try 8 windows on one by one manual refresh next time.

Yeah same here. Got tickets at either my first or second attempt in 2014, 2015 and 2016 (including getting through 3 times in the main sale in 2016), and now haven't had a sniff for the last 6 sales. Assumed I was just going through a stage of bad luck with it tbh.

Haha didn't realise those posts were from the same person. Thought the first post was a prediction.

That's great thank you. I don't usually ask for song recommendations as it kind of defeats that personal connection with an artists music, but... having only discovered them (where have I been really?!) and such little time to fully appreciate a vast back catalogue before June I thought it best to get recommendations from their hardcore fan base :)

As a selection of my favourite tracks to try out, hit up Pink Rabbits, Lit Up, Slow Show, Fake Empire, Karen, All the Wine, Mr November, Apartment Story, Bloodbuzz Ohio, Lemonworld, Conversation 16. Not really sure on the chances of them all being played but they're all brilliant songs.

Been getting into RTJ massively recently, really hope they're headlining JP on the Saturday.

Radiohead/RTJ/Justice would be a fucking excellent trio of headliners

What I'm hoping for, too, but with Bonobo now ruled out of Friday I'm expecting him to headline JP on Sat, with RTJ on the Other.

  7. It ain't ideal but right now he's probably my 2nd most wanted for Saturday JP after RTJ. Even then I dunno if I'd see him over Foos. Probably watch the beginning of Foos and see if they're holding my attention. Not bovved about seeing Solange but the other stages may have good subs so I'm getting a bit ahead of myself.

Just noticed DTRH have announced their stage splits, gives us a few ideas on who can't play certain days.

Temples and The Lemon Twigs will be Friday or Saturday.
Bonobo, All We Are and Julia Jacklin will be either Saturday or Sunday.
Rag 'N' Bone Man will be Sunday.

This probably rules out Pond too as they're in the UK all week before Glastonbury so would make much more sense for them to do Friday at Glastonbury and then go over for DTRH.

I had it in the back of my mind that we had some kind of indication Pond would be there. Am I making that up? I'm not too confident I'm right.

Wireless could do something like Kendrick Lamar, Beyonce, Frank Ocean or something like that if they still wanna hit the R&B/hip-hop crowd

Then you still have people like Taylor Swift, Radiohead (if they're still touring?), The XX, Adele, Stone Roses etc. for BST too....

Don't feel like Frank Ocean will be back over here again next Summer. He's not the most prolific tourer. Can't see Beyoncé having any reason to tour; she won't have any new material so soon after the birth of her child, surely. They'll probably have Stormzy headline tbh, forgot about him.

Don't imagine Radiohead, Adele or the Roses will be touring, and The xx don't feel big enough for BST. Taylor Swift yeah if she's around.

There isn't a single song that I dislike on that album. In fact Pink Rabbits, Graceless and Humiliation are probably in my top 5 National songs. Really hope the new record can top it

Yeah I loved it at the time (remember rating it my 2nd favourite album of the year behind ...Like Clockwork) but in the intervening years between now and then I haven't really gone back to it much, unlike Alligator/Boxer/High Violet. But I've put it in my car recently and had it on repeat and rediscovered how amazing it is. I think it's probably their most consistent album.

  11. Pink Rabbits came on during my drive home from work in the dark last night, on my own down a load of empty streets, and I had a bit of a moment.

One of those songs that just makes m feel something really intensely (I don't really know what the feeling is). Other songs that do this off the top of my head are Let Down and Straight to You.

How anybody can rate it as not even one of the best tracks on Trouble Will Find Me is beyond me. Especially when tracks such as Abel from their discography are lauded so much. Think it might be my favourite National song.

Potentially an exciting year ahead looking at that. Guns N' Roses for BST maybe? If Snow Patrol's album is popular and BST are desperate they could crop up there I think. I'd be surprised if Green Day didn't do a major UK fest on this album cycle but I can't really see where they'd slot in looking at that.

    Decode is a pop song

Green Day could do IOW I guess.

Edit: I don't think acts of GnR's size who can sell out Wembley Stadium would do BST. They may as well just do more stadiums to rake in as much money as possible.

  13. Thought I'd lob one of these down as people were doing em the other day. Can't be bothered to think of the remaining ones I haven't filled in, and I did it in 2 minutes so haven't really thought in much depth.

R&L: Royal Blood, Arctic Monkeys, Paramore
    V: Drake, Lady Gaga
TRNSMT: Paolo Nutini, The Killers, Arctic Monkeys
Download: Bring Me The Horizon, Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica
IOW: Queens of the Stone Age, Kasabian, Depeche Mode
Bestival: LCD Soundsystem, Boy Better Know, Tame Impala
Latitude: CHVRCHES, Arcade Fire, Ben Howard
    Wireless: Kendrick Lamar, ???, ???
    BST: Gorillaz + more

Arctics doing a Wembley date or two alongside that. Foos and Sheeran also hitting up the stadiums.

That's just the problem though - too many of the great 'Give It A Name' bands have abandoned the sound of that scene and jumped on the bandwagon of becoming more mainstream/pop-oriented (as well as the ones you've mentioned, I'd also say You Me At Six, All Time Low and arguably also 30 Seconds To Mars based on their last album), while others have split up (My Chemical Romance, Funeral For A Friend, Lostprophets, The Blackout, Kids In Glass Houses) and meanwhile there's this massive void left behind for emo/pop-punk/alternative fans.

Instead of becoming just another typical indie-pop band, Paramore could have potentially set themselves apart from the trend by returning to their roots and standing as one of the few remaining bastions of emo/scene rock, perhaps even reigniting fan support and inspiring new bands to come through. I'm not surprised that they haven't, I never actually expected that they would - but I'm frustrated that neither they nor any of the other big names have stepped up. At least we still have a fair few mid-size bands though, like Jimmy Eat World, New Found Glory, Taking Back Sunday, The Used, AFI, Alkaline Trio, Rise Against and Billy Talent... would just be nice if we still had some real heavyweights in there as well - main stage headliners instead of Pit/Lock-Up.

Really can't wait for MCR to come back tbh.

Maybe they realised that scene is the absolute pits and wanted to do something decent.

Hard Times and Future (the only song I heard from the s/t) are by far the best things I've heard from Paramore.

I loved it, but have to fess up to being a fairly unreliable witness.  We started near the top of the hill but apparently I hightailed it away from my mates away down the hill towards the stage the minute Black Skinhead started properly.

After the opening of Stronger > Power and the incredible atmosphere around me I genuinely thought it was about to see one of the greatest Glastonbury sets. Unfortunately there were then a few hiccups and setlist-wise it took a dip in the middle but then it finished once again as a banger-fest. On the whole an incredibly fun set with a few downsides stopping me being able to consider it an amazing set.

The Lonz also said that Ye's Brits performance was 'threatening', which is an almighty dogwhistle if ever I heard one.

Was funny rewatching it again.  The crowd down the front look like they're having a whale of a time during things like Touch The Sky.

One of the funnest sets I've been at.
