I think RTJ only seems odd because Stormzy would seemingly be much better suited. He'd be the better choice for main stage hip hop act IMO.

This opening 5 is gonna absolutely decimate the Pyramid dwellers.

Either way I don't think it's weird if they play 4th down Pyramid instead of 5th down. Think I was worried it'd fall flat before when people suggested it but they've really broken out in the last couple of years and this is the sorta slot they want and deserve. This is better than JP headline or whatever I reckon.

Yeah but I ended up thinking any Pyramid slot for them would be really weird, and the only reason I had them there was in an attempt to keep the Friday hip-hop slot alive. Anyway, hope they take the opportunity and smash it. As said, it'll be good exposure for them. Will also be funny having the camping chair brigade have to suffer through it waiting for Katy Perry.

You predicted them for the same slot on Friday, did you not?

I did right at the start of predicting for 2017, due to a lack of acts I could think of for the Friday hip-hop slot, then I removed them from the slot as I thought it'd be ridiculous. I also defo had them lower than 4th down.

    Its very very odd.

Why? Standard Glasto hip hop "get them moving again after the afternoon slump" slot.

Yeah but it tends to be acts that people have heard of. Stormzy would have made sense. The camping chair brigade are gonna be so baffled when I drop kick them in the face to Close Your Eyes and Count to Fuck.

You may notice me following you for the last four, but I assure you it is simply a coincidence

I hope you look like your profile pic and I have that big cartoon thing following me around all evening.

  6. Radiohead vs Flaming Lips vs Anderson .Paak (Radiohead obv win but fuck me it's a nightmare)

The National vs Stormzy vs FJM (The National definitely win and I'm thinking head straight to FJM rather than seeing part of Stormzy)

    Justice vs BBK (Justice win)

Glass Animals vs Mark Lanegan (not sure)

RTJ vs Thurston Moore (RTJ win)

That's all I can think of right now.

Edit: Oh yeah The National vs The Avalanches but we knew that ages ago and The National win.

  7. I imagine this will be the only headliner all of my group go to, although we are all pissed off about some of the clashes (Lorde, .Paak, Flips). Gonna be a good 'un, anyways.

Friday evening looking very nice indeed.

Hamilton Leithauser > Glass Animals/Mark Lanegan > Angel Olsen > The xx > Radiohead

Let this be a cautionary tale of assigning an act to a slot bc you wanted them there.

I actually kept predicting other acts there out of pessimism (Bonobo, Crystal Fighters, Goldfrapp) until they all seemed ruled out and I finally let myself believe it'd be RTJ!

  9. Reckon they'll be okay, I bet they actually have a not too bad crossover with Foos. Last time I saw them was subbing Green Day and they were fine. Time before that they were on at Leeds before The Strokes and Pulp; crowd was awful but they were still great.

  10. Honestly rotating RTJ, Stormzy and Phoenix to make it RTJ JP headliners, Stormzy 4th Pyramid and Phoenix Other sub would have made 1000x times more sense ffs.

Also would have meant I could see Stormzy > Katy Perry > The National > FJM > RTJ. Fuck you, Glasto.

Also can see why Wiley was so happy. What a strange slot for him. He's 4th down the NME Stage at R&L, below Mura Masa, and 7th down on his day at Wireless, below Travis Scott, Rae Sremmurd, Young Thug, Sean Paul and Lil Yachty.

'Supersonic - Introduced by Noel Gallagher'

What do we reckon then, secret slots for him AND Liam?

Nah he's there as a punter every year so it's easy and makes sense for him to introduce it whilst he's there.

Can we assume our Liam is off the cards?

General consensus is he'll play that Other Stage TBA slot

    I'm hoping anyway

Yeah that or the Sunday JP TBA. We've been told he's playing and he's an exclusive at R&L so a TBA set makes a lot of sense.

  13. Reckon I'm gonna sack Stormzy off then. Would miss the first half of his set anyway thanks to these boys.

Full National and FJM sets is probably a better deal than seeing half a Stormzy set having missed half the bangers at the start.

  14. Radiohead clashing with Flips and Anderson .Paak (already knew this I guess).

The National only getting 45 mins.

Stormzy on Other as soon as The National finish meaning I'll miss the start.

    FJM clashing with Stormzy.

RTJ mid-Pyramid whilst Phoenix headline JP again up against a thousand guitar acts.

Absolutely naff all on Sunday except Justice and Chic.

    The Can Project disappeared.

I actually don't think one thing revealed today has made me happy.

  15. Tbh I reckon if one of the two sets is to be extended it'll be Foos.

It's shite but any extension of their set will just cause overlap with Stormzy so am not too bovved. Very glad I bought tour tickets.

  16. I kept getting confused by the stages that run Thu-Sun and kept reading them as thought the first day was Friday. Thought Thurston had added something to my shit-as-fuck Sunday and then realised he clashes with RTJ on the Sat. Piss off Thurston.

  17. Oh fuck off.

Fucking Phoenix, they headlined that stage last time they played!

I wanted to see Phoenix but now I feel nothing but animosity towards the stupid French arsewipes.

What a shit set this is gonna be compared to headlining JP.
