  1. Park and camp question

I suspose it's comparable to paying extra for a Campervan ticket. You don't have the hassle of having to carry all your gear from your car to the camp sites and there's the convenience of being able to lock things away in the car without the walk back to the car park. As Womad 2016 was my last ever festival after 40 years, Reading 76 being my first, I treated myself to a Park & Camp ticket just so I could relax more and go out on a high, so for me it was worth the extra expense. My aging dog has thoroughly enjoyed 2017 so far, as there have been no trips to the kennels to stress him out .
  2. Park and camp question

I bought a Park & Camp (not Meadow) ticket in 2016. Back then they parked us up in a similar fashion to the car parks, i.e. a row at a time with the usual fire breaks every other row. There were no pre-allocated plots. Someone did ask if a plot could be kept free next to them as they had friends arriving a little later and the steward allowed that, but I can't say for certain whether that was just luck or a generally acceptable request. I would suggest arriving in convoy if feasible, just in case.

While on the subject of scantilly clad women, Girls and Corpses anyone!!! http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/news/heavy-metal-producers-corpse-to-be-mutilated-by-models-as-per-his-dying-wish-9992548.html
  4. Pink Floyd?

If Gilmour had had his way, Dogs (You gotta be crazy) and Sheep (Raving and Drooling) would have appeared on the follow up to Dark Side, so even though I'm more of a Gilmour fan he definitely needed Roger for the ideas and to dictate the bands direction. As a result we got both Wish You Were Here and Animals.

Style Scott has reportedly been murdered in Jamaica. There's not a lot of information out there at the moment but it will be very sad news if true. For me possibly the greatest drummer in reggae.

Some great unreleased On U stuff here http://www.mixcloud.com/onusoundsundayroast/onu-sound-sunday-roast-x-mas-special-2014-sneak-preview-with-adrian-sherwood/ introduced by Adrian Sherwood himself :-)

I used to listen to Nick Manasseh's Kiss FM show in the 90s and that occupied the late Saturday night Sunday morning slot. If it wasn't for the fact that I was in IT support and often had to work overnight Saturday implementing changes, I would never have become aware of his show and would have missed out on some cracking Reggae & Dub. I much preferred Nick's show on Kiss to Rodigan's, but having said that, Rodigan's early Radio London shows introduced me to Reggae in a big way during my last year at school and at around the same time Robbie Vincent's Saturday Soul Show on Radio London was opening up my musical tastes to Soul and Funk and I have him to thank for me sending off for tickets to see Parliament Funkadelic at Hammersmith Odeon in 1978

Adrian Sherwood was asked whether there was any new stuff coming out of Jamaica that excited him in this recent interview http://racketracket.co.uk/music/jd-twitch-meets-adrian-sherwood-part-2/ Clearly he doesn't like much of the current crop. I'll stick to buying the re-issues from labels such as Pressure Sounds for the time being. They have a new Dennis Bovell release lined up next http://www.pressure.co.uk/news/2012-05-21/mek-it-run-by-dennis-bovell/
  10. The Documentary Film Thread

I'd like to throw in "Fire in Babylon" about the West Indies cricket team. Watched this on DVD the other week and can thoroughly recommend it. Awesome soundtrack too. http://fireinbabylon.com/
