Do you guys think the original Smashing Pumpkins will tour this summer? James Iha is of course touring with A Perfect Circle but their last announced concert is July 1st in Italy. Could Smashing Pumpkins and even Tool start a European tour after that? How great would it be to have Pearl Jam, Queens of the Stone Age, Tool and Smashing Pumpkins all at RW

Went to Werchter last year and had an absolute blast, now looks like I'm going to be headed there again in 2018. I've made a 'prediction', but I want to preface it by saying that I have absolutely no idea (as you can probably tell) about positioning in Belgium, and have only come up with about 11 for each day. The vast majority of these are names that I recognise that are playing European festivals late June, early July. Will be interesting too see how far off I am lol. The dates are wrong as it's last year's template.
This would be rather weak line up for RW standards I think....but I love you included Greta van Fleet

Not really a Arctic Monkeys fan, but if they'll be announced I hope we'll get a big dance-act after them. The Prodigy or The Chemical Brothers.....

In 2009 we stayed in Mechelen and finding a taxi each night was a real horror. Plus it's expansive as hell. You're much better off getting a hotel in Leuven close to the train station....or stay in the Hive or the Rockvillage http://rockvillage.be/en/

Why not stay in Leuven?

That would for me personaly, probably be the weakest lineup since I started going. The only good thing would be NIN in the Barn at the same time as the XX.....

I think they want to announce good bands first and Trent doesn't want to be booked for the festival.
When has Trent said that? I know he wasn't happy with the hardcore Metallica fans in the front in 2009...
NIN in the Barn clashing with Arctic Monkeys or The XX would be perfect for me -

So I'm thinking there's a big act that won't confirm until the new year. There's a fair few major fests that seem to be putting off a headline anouncenment this year in a similar vain to RW (Mad Cool, InMusic, Primavera) Arctics being sneaky maybe? Eminem?
Why not announce Muse, Nine Inch Nails, Alice in Chains, Deftones, The Killers and all those bands we know are around....?

Oscar & The Wolf confirmed himself closing the festival in an interview in a Dutch magazine.
Don't shoot the messenger please, I'm equally as dissapointed..
Nick Cave and Oscar and the Wolf as a co-headlining act? That would be beyond disappointing...

Wishful thinking
Most likely, but one can always hope

Tool will have a new album out next year. They're already booked for some festivals in the US in the spring. A Perfect Circle are of course touring Europe next summer but they have no dates during the RW weekend so maybe, just MAYBE, Tool will come? Wishful thinking?

Jack White....YES PLEASE!

Maybe we can hope for some of the other artists confirmed along with The Cure: Interpol, Editors, Slowdive, The Twilight Sad... they all would be great for me!
It wouldn't be the worst for me personally if we missed out on all of them

There are places in North East Scotland where that wouldn't be considered unusual

I think there's no doubt about that. Might describe ourselves as "Experienced" as opposed to old farts though
That sounds a lot better for sure

My son went there and loved it. Last thing he would have wanted was to bump into his old man. I’ll maybe give it a bash
My daughter will come with me to Rock Werchter next summer....as she did this summer and in 2016
I think we are, along with thetime, are the old farts on this forum- 3

In the English version it says "four massive names...." not four headliners. Does it say four headliners in the Dutch version?

Why do you think that? Of course Nick is a headliner. He's a headliner on every 2018 festival he's playing. But they'll add a similar sized headliner on the same day, for sure.
Last 3 times Nick Cave played RW:
2009: 2ManyDJs -- Kings of Leon -- Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
2011: The Black Eyed Peas -- A-Trak -- Iron Maiden - Grinderman
2013: Rammstein -- Volbeat -- Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
....If he was 3rd down twice and fourth down once the last 3 times he played, why should he headline now?

We'll get at least one headliner this week....Arctic Monkeys is the easy guess
