  1. Mike99 is busy launching a twitter account dedicated to Man Utd.

Football fan or not, give this a read. From the first tweet and work upwards.

    Has to be him.

Absolutely brilliant, I have just been in tears laughing at the poor blokes disappointment.

  2. so i reckon its gonna be the 5th oct at 9 am and i think they will do a coach sale first again imo ....and i wish every one good luck including my self lol .

The one thing i REALLY REALLY hope and think they should do is to cancel the reopening of the registration after Tday has gone ...i believe if you haven't registered by the time tix go on sale then unlucky youve had a year for christ sack and at least the tix in the resale will go to people that HAVE bothered .

any way thats my thoughts ??

That would be a good idea.

  3. The Healing Field is a closer and tighter knit bunch than the Masons. To get a pitch in there it really is a case of who you know rather than what you know. Sorry if anyone is offended or if I am being too controversial, but some people get pitches there doing 'Gong Washes' , cleansing your spirit by banging a gong gently around you. Others by healing you by parping a didge at you. The list goes on. Yet others who are at the top of their game and working full time as fully qualified herbalists etc don't get a look in. Good luck.

Is it a similar situation in the craft/green fields as well?

Or are they more open to new people?

  4. I noticed I had one friend (I say friend, ex-colleague would be more accurate) who liked them the other day. Needless to dsay they are no longer a Facebook friend.

The thing is with Facebook or any other social media is just because you have liked something doesn't necessarily mean you actually really like it, i for instance like the David Cameron page just so i can comment on his posts and not because i actually like him. You can't comment against something (i don't think) unless you actually like the page?

So liking a page so you can give a reasoned response to crap they spout is probably not a bad thing ?

  5. Accept for The Other Stage! With Udo Dirkschneider on vocals, the second greatest named German in the world (after Bastian Schweinsteiger) on vocals.

I thought Fanny Chmelar was the best German name ever?

But don't AC/DC always bring their own stage? Or is that just sometimes?

When they played Download they had the 2 "main" stages set up side-by-side and it looked a bit silly.

Obviously that wouldn't work at Glasto and I am sure it wouldn't be a deal-breaker for any band really wishing to play, but I have heard it said before the AC/DC have no interest in Glasto...

To anyone who saw the gig at Download must have realised that the stage show probably wouldn't have fitted on the main stage and allow for the other bands in the daytime.

For Glastonbury they probably wouldn't need a stage show, apart from maybe the bell and a few cannons strategically placed just for effect and Joe Rush could probably fashion a flat cap from old car bonnets to sit on top of the Pyramid.

  6. Don't like his music at all but he seems to be having a great time just being at the festival, and I can't begrudge him that.

To be honest I have a lot of time for him since I nearly walked straight into him as he was getting off his tourbus at my university a couple of years ago and we both did the awkward "Oh, sorry!" sidestep shuffle.

I'm not too keen on his music either, but he seems like a nice enough bloke and got a pretty decent crowd.

  7. OK so I've just realised i'm potentially away on ticket day this year. Is it usually the first Sunday in October?

I will be in the UK, so not too bad, but i'm already panicking! We will be staying in self catered accommodation (not booked yet) so top of my list is now an internet connection ;)

Don't most holiday lets have wi-fi now? I think it comes as standard now with most places.

For those people who will be abroad on ticket day, it would be unfair to penalise anyone for being on holiday.

  8. it's the solenoid rather than the starter - tho annoyingly the solenoid isn't a separate part, so GFS have just a moment ago had my dosh (with discount, via a t25 site) for a new starter motor.

The hammer thing normally only works if you can hit the starter at the same moment you've got the key turned - which is definitely a two man job on a rear-engined vehicle.

Is there an auto electrician near you? most starter motors/alternators can be repaired fairly easy.

I had my starter overhauled and the solenoid sorted for £40.

When you say the solenoid isn't a seperate part, does it look like this? if so there is a way of getting it out and replacing it with a new one, even though VW will try and charge £250+ for a complete unit.

  9. was that done by a geezer in Bristol? I spoke to someone once about the possibility of doing similar to my own van.

No it was a bloke in Scarborough, the engine cost £250 and labour, he changed the crank bearings and did a bit of preventative maintenance and i think it was about £600 all in.

from what i can gather quite a few VW engines will fit the T25 and as they slope you just have to change the sump over.

  10. I had someone come to my door recently attempting to sell me white plastic double glazed window units. I stopped her when I found out what she was selling to point out to her that I already had white plastic double glazed window units. She then looked at my front windows and acknowledged that I had indeed already got what she was trying to sell and then she walked off.

Talking of double glazed units - me, my brothers and my dad built our parental home in our spare time over a two year period. One day I was staining the new timber double glazed units in the front lounge and two Jehovah's Witnesses came up to the window and started talking to me. During this conversation my mad Roman Catholic Irish father arrived with his equally mad Roman Catholic Irish friend. I watched them go through the front door and thought they'd not even seen these two people talking to me (me in the lounge and they on the outside of the property). It was not to be. The lounge door opened behind me and I heard my dad say " Who are those people talking to you Kevin (for that is my real name)"? I told him they were Jehovah's Witnesses, to which he replied " tell them to fuck off". I turned to look at them but had no need to say anything as they had heard quite distinctly and knew that they were up against the devil incarnate!

My neighbors had 2 upstairs UPV windows replaced today, when i asked him why, he said these new ones are state of the art and triple glazed, they looked just like the ones he had before.

  11. I'm pretty sure that nobody working after the festival is a volunteer....everyone gets paid at least NMW and also three good meals a day. Still a remarkable effort as you say. I used to be involved in the clean up many years ago and it used to take a hell of a lot longer than now.

Respect and a huge round of applause to the crew.

(BTW, there was a huge party on the Friday after the festival All the bottles of beer etc that were confiscated on entry were released to the crew..carnage :) )

  12. I'm only just stopping telling everyone i see i was at glastonbury now and realizing its only the start of the summer for most....

Which means there's plenty more to go!! :sarcastic:

Is anyone heading to any other festivals? Which one?

I'll be heading to Electric Picnic i at the start of September and i'm already counting down the days!

Nothing else planned for me for the near future,i just got my campervan back after it broke down on the way to Glastonbury and a £810 bill for the repairs. Ouch!

  13. Quite a few moments but not really emotional ones, i have taken my son 5 times and this year he is 12, while watching quite a few acts, Blondie, Wailers, Jack White,Metallica etc he would comment i know this one, or i've heard this one. I started to realise he is starting to take notice of music a bit more.

  14. I had to check this out earlier in the year when I got my mot as I have a sticker and a chip that I wanted not to remove. Same rules for both. If its not within the swept area of the wipers it doesn't matter at all. If it is in the swept area it has to be smaller than a 4cm diameter circle. If it's in front of the driver then it's a 1cm circle.

I thought it was something like that, also the Mrs's car has passed every year since 2011 with a sticker in her window and that's at a different test station to the one i use.
