  1. Gossip at Victoria Warehouse on the Friday, CMAT supporting
  2. Does anyone have any experience with taxis on a day ticket? Is there a designated pickup point? The info on the website just lists some very local taxi numbers with no other info, such as a location to get collected,
  3. someone from the Night Do gets to come all day
  4. Interesting they said we tried, potentially a real life manifestation of the argument here and everyone is kind of correct. Boygenius want (deserve?) Headliner money and that isn't where GM see their profile right now.
  5. History is full of side projects and supergroups (Velvet Revolver, Raconteurs) who don't just assume the festival billing of their most popular member. The interest is usually diluted from that base of popularity. Fontaines sold out 3x nights at Hammersmith, if Grian forms a supergroup he's on at 2pm in Far Out. So there's no gender bias to the point I'm making here. Boygenius announced as a headliner would buck the trends of both the festival itself and also supergroups more generally. Maybe that has happened. But you're wrong to scoff at us for countering that assumption based on history.
  6. Out the two I would much rather watch Boygenius, I've lost count of how many times I've seen HC. Festivals are by and large pretty risk averse though. I wish more festivals took a punt on headliners. It doesn't really happen though. As I said above, I'm not saying they won't or shouldn't, but no one has headlined the festival with less than two records out and we could be getting a headliner announced 4 weeks before their debut. The reaction will be interesting, some very supportive and vocal underwhelm I imagine.
  7. I really don't think it's as clear cut as that though. If they get announced as headlining loads of people with tickets are going to say "who?" and loads without are going to start hitting up resale sites saying "Please!", and if the album is just OK, it could be a fairly quiet main stage area. There's a reason bands like Hot Chip occupy a higher billing than their current popularity, it's safe reliable recognition for a variety of punters. Boygenius is the absolute opposite of that right now. I'm not saying they won't or shouldn't headline, I just think there's more to consider here than how many people would buy a ticket to their own show at this present moment.
  8. Well not really, it's possible to have cult following and not broader appeal that would make someone a good festival headliner. Especially as GM is sold out, they aren't relying on them for ticket sales.
  9. That Halifax Piece Hall show puts Boygenius the size of War on Drugs, Weller and others of headline size...it just feels, I dunno, a leap that there is time for them to crossover to have the name recognition to headline Green Man. Kiwanuka for instance had a 6 music album of the year (artist in residence too maybe?) and the theme tune on a hit HBO show and I still think some were a tad underwhelmed with the name (though surely not performance). It's a good get for a sub headline though innit, 4th on the poster sort of thing. Singles have been good but ultimately it's the side project of someone who sold out 2 nights at mcr apollo, played the john peel and headlined the 2nd stage of Latitude last summer. We're not talking a Taylor Swift side project here, Bridgers solo is probably only just out of reach whilst on the crest of a wave. It's probably also her ceiling isn't it? There's not going to be a time she headlines Glasto in my opinion.
  10. Lorde on at Boardmasters too, which while I doubt are close enough to exclusivity clauses don't seem to ever share acts. I think that's target audience as much as anything but still seems like if you play one you aren't at the other. Causation/correlation etc.
  11. yeah you're right, news story I saw had the tour starting in sept.
  12. Proper bag of washing that line up. Feel it's been more cohesive in the past. Arguably less for the daduals this year wonder if that's conscious.
  13. first date is 2nd sept isn't it? could be in Europe in Aug for a few before
