Full Version: Weekend Camping Ticket - Best option for sleeping?
Festival Forums > Festivals > T in the Park
freshness
Hi.

I'm going to TITP this year for the first time! I'm making the journey from Cambridge so it's going to be a proper road trip. I've got 2x weekend camping tickets.

Aside from camping in an actual tent, I was wondering what people's thoughts were regarding places to stay? I'm happy to crash in the car / van if it's possible to get in and out of the car park easily - or would I need the £50 camper van ticket as well? Other convos on this forum see to say you can crash in your van or car in the car parks - is this the case?

Also, what's all this about people stealing whole tents??!

Thanks Guys,

p.s. really hope Travis are on the lineup somewhere this year smile.gif Can't wait!

I would sleep in a tent mate, that way you get the joy of the campsite. Don't worry about tent being nicked, must be very small chance of it happening. Just don't keep anything valuable in it. Keep your cash on you. Bring Ear Plugs, they are a god send if you want sleep.
Have fun

philthee's right, whats the point in camping in your car away from it all? You could do it, with a camping ticket you can get in and out of the arena, but I think if security catch you they'll try and stop you. Get a tent and join the fun!

I managed to get about 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night last year and that was without having any alcohol to help me so you will be fine.

i always manage to get a good few hours sleep or in my case it may have been a case of lapsing into unconciousness

I managed to sleep alright last year, but I wish i'd taken earplugs! Took me a while but sheer knackeredness took over in the end laugh.gif

depends how light a sleeper you are! I drink loads then pass out! Get good nights kip! smile.gif

i am a rather heavy sleeper & once slept through the fire brigade arriving at my parents house due to a chimney fire, as they have a wooden shingle roof. The fire brigade lads had to get into the loft space throughmy room & i snored my head off through it all, once i am out i am OUT.

It can happen. The other night my friend told me about about it.

Some guy his whole tent stolen so he went away to the tent stall to buy another one, only to find his very own tent, still with all his belonging inside, up for sal. Cost him £60 to get it back.

i have never heard of whole tents being nicked at T by all accounts its more of a glasto thing

I've never heard of whole tents being nicked either. I did witness one guy going absolutely apeshit as his tent blew away one year biggrin.gif but nicked, no.

I struggled to sleep one night last year, the Saturday night I think, but thankfully my headphones have removeable foam bits so just took them off and stuffed them in my ears!
Every year I've gone to T I've stayed in the campsite - it just wouldn't be the same otherwise smile.gif

Thats a 100% glasto story i remember reading about that. Dont worry mate sleep were you fall. It hasnt failed me yet.

was our first year last year, just tent it mate its so much easier that way no hassels, there are lots of horror stories that appear on the forum abouts tents being nicked, toilets being full to the brim, beer running out so make sure u bring a van load with u and sutff like that,

there are a few bits that go on like pick pockets and stuff so best to not have anything in your pockets we found the best way to deal with it last year was to wear wellies tuck your troozers inside them and slide your wallet down your trouser leg that way you aint gonna fget it nicked in a crowd and its pretty easy to get to, i remember last year standing in the inside ring near the front watching a band i cant remember anyways there was this giant of a chap with a with a afro and he was wareing this really long check coat looked a bit like the chap from oliver anyways i had a rucksack on my back turned round to just catch the chap with his hand poking out the inside of his long coat going for me bag the fecker had cut the inside of his pockets out, anywas i moved away and wasnt bothered by him again.

other than that we hada few people wondering around the tents drunk as skunks trying to sleep in our tents coz they were totaly lost,

but we didnt have anything pinched,

when your a noobie like we were last year you tend to panic and believe what everyone posts on ere lol smile.gif

i aint seen anyone whole tent nicked but as an extra safetu measure ive got a good tip...................

cut to holes nito the ground sheet that way you can ple your legs thru the bottom and walk your tent into the arena and watch the bands without fear of anyone pinching it lol wink.gif

nataliealana
I slept for about 10 hours each night and I was camped next to the activities area which was pretty loud.
Jacky_17
I stayed up most of Friday night finally passing out about 5am getting around 3-4 hours sleep, on the saturday I had a good 9 hours after the chillie peppers and then on sunday i had about an hour. I think i'll do that again this year- sleep properly on the saturday and stay up the other nights.
Denny
Tent it i say smile.gif

Although i do know some ned/chav's who live up road from me who jumped the fence and stole a full tent.

Don't worry though, very slim chance!

I went sleep walking last year...

Scary to think that i was away for a whole hour...and i dont have a clue what i done or where i went...!
