I was arguing with my mate about how many folk goto T just because its T. He said it was a very low % that go. I said a very high % would go just because it was T.

My arguments are. Early bir tickets sell out without knowing lineup, People in Que waiting to buy tickets probably dont know (dont know the full lineup) . You get groups of neds going just to get pished and stoned.

What do you think?

loads of folk do this. i know people who didnt even leave the campsite at all one day last year, they were only there because its T, not for the bands at all.
Jaffa Cake
I know of folk who go who don't leave the campsite at all. They go for the campsite.

Helluva lot of money to spend on camping in a field. Fuds.

i quite happily stayed in the campsite on the saturday, mainly because i had overdone it severly on the friday/ saturday morning and couldnt move, literally, my legs were like lead.
Tokely
Yeah loads a peeps go just cause it's T
What??? No beer???????
Lots I would guess. Maybe a third of people there?
-pogo-
It's a huge number who go just to go to T.
broxyburd
id quite happily sit in the campsite all weekend UNLESS there is a band i really really really wana see.

maybe years ago it was. definitely didnt feel a sense of community this year.
Glitter+Vodka
my friends went just because its T!
they booked tickets in the first place because they said everyone goes on about it so they want to try it just once, and when we got there they told me they didnt know the majority of the acts playing. They picked the ones they knew best off the radio, while I went to see some good bands.

They loved it, mainly for the banter, and said they are deffo going back.... I said I'd wait for the line up but they said no we dont care we are deffo going back.

Everyone I went with this year tbh wouldn't of went if Rage weren't playing, probably myself as well.
BenchBuddah
I go every year just because its T and everone else does lol I never enjoyed it that much this year but will still go next
KingOfTheRodeo
The only reason i went this year was because of the bands, well Kings Of Leon.
Cosmo Kramer
Campsite used to be the best bit of T. Not anymore. I'm never setting foot in it again. My attendance next year depends purely on the Slam Tent Line up.
Paul ™
I reckon 90% of people go just cause it's T.

But then again, probably a higher %ge of people go to Glasto cause it's Glasto..
xgemmax
well anyone who buys early bird tickets is essentially just buying them because its T, i suppose some folk sell there tix when the line up is announced, but if i had early birds and i thought the line up was shit, id probably still go, jst for the banter, but saying that the banter wasnt as good as last year.

Did where i was, had a good laugh every night with groups on all sides of us.

I think overall the question in this thread is a bit daft. I think the main reason people go is because its a music festival and people like going to music festivals.

pretty much.

the first year i went cos i wanted to experience a music festival. the next two i went just cos it was T i would say. but this year i definitely went for the line up cos i was gonna give it a miss originally. think im cutting it down to just 1 fest next year so T will have to be the biggest and best again for me to want to go.

yeah we ended up meeting some cool people, we ended up goin to the arena with them and all that, but most of the folk around us werent interested tbh
Tomo18
il be honest i went to T because the line up was the best for me
and probley wont be going next year unless they do somthing spectacular
i think alot of people go because its like on there door step(only about an hour from glasgow etc)
but it was a great festival
and will go again in the future

Kind of an odd question but i go because i want to see my favourite bands play live and catching a few i've never heard of. Plus it's a great way to spend a weekend. However some my friends go just for the drinking and "posing" and then spend the majority of the time completely gashed in the first aid tent. One saw a collective total of 3 bands and another one saw one and spent the rest of the time at the barcadi tent. Makes you feel sorry for the folk that want to go but can't get a ticket.

Not really, if you've paid your money for your ticket you should be able to spend the weekend however you want. The Bacardi tent was excellent this year in any case. Its not often in Scotland you can find a venue open for about 11 hours playing the kind of tunes you want so good luck to him, i was in there quite a lot as well!

if somebody has paid £170 on a ticket then its up to them what they do all weekend!!!!!

If T hadn't been my first festival (only had been to Download Scotland before), I would've probably never went.

Only reason I went at first was because I was too young realy to go anywhere else. I'd say for some 16 year olds going to T is better than travelling all the way down to England for another festival of that size.

And the only reason I went back year after year was because my friends all went. Now most of us go to other festivals which I prefer over T.
gr_1988
it is a music festival so i tend to let that dictate whether i go not even if all of m friends do go or not. staying in the campsite all weekend would be just a waste of time and money.

bestival is where i want to go to next year as well as T, that or benicassim. and the ATP (All Tomorrows Parties) festival.

ditto, although I venture into the arena when the good bands come on, the campsite is top notch!!
