Hello

I travel up from Barnsley with my Mrs from Barnsley to T every year since Strathclyde days, because as i've said before on many occasions its the best / friendliest festival I've been to, including Glasto, V, Leeds.
With this in mind we hired a campervan this time which cost us about £800 for the week (minimum rental) plus tickets, plus fuel and spending money, for that i could have stopped in the Residence but I'd like to know what it was like.

Many Thanks For Looking

I stayed in a tipi for the weekend. It was really nice but some of it was quite disorganised (but give them their due, it was the first year). Everyone who was staying in the residence was meant to get fast tracked to the front of the queue outside, but no-one at the office seemed to know anything about this so a lot of people waited for a few hours to get in. You were then meant to get a lift from inside the gate to the residence, but they only had a 4 seater truck so most folk were piling their bags in the truck and walking up.

The residence itself was lovely - set back between the campers and the campervans (If you look at the thread for aerial photo's you can see where it is). It had it's own bar, and food van, and I think there was a beauticians as well (although I don't look beautiful without being at a festival so I don't think anyone would have a chance to beautify me at a festie! blink.gif ). There is a block of showers and toilets that are maintained, and some portakabins with showers and loo's as well but my suggestion to you is shower at night and not in the morning if you're sober enough! There was a bit of a queue in the morning and because so many folk were using the showers first thing, the were really cold. The shower on the saturday night (after a freezing one first thing - gee, that woke me up) was worth all the money we paid! You also get a lift back in a minibus to the main entrance on the monday morning.

For your pennies you also get hospitality bands so you can have a drinky round a the hospitality bar at the back of king tuts. Never been to T before until this year, so it was a nice little warm up for next year, but next year might downgrade myself to tangerine fields or myhabs to save some pennies!

Hope this helps!

Fine if you can afford it but i can't help feeling it's just so wrong.

To be honest, I don't think I'd pay that again - it was nice to try it once, but still a bit overpriced for what you were getting!

can anyone tell me what if any furnishings the tipis have.

my fiance and i just booked one after having to wade through all the crap last year, do you know if there is a seperate entrance to the actual enue or do you have to queue up for the long walk.

cheers

Same entrance, but I heard once you're in you get a lift on a mini 4x4 buggy with all your gear to The Residence

We were in the tipi's this year and arrived on the Thursday. I would say if you can afford the time go on the Thursday - no problem getting in and once you have your wristbands you can bypass the mass at the entrance gate. As I remeber it was the hospitality pass that allowed us to walk through when we went back to the car on the Friday.
