Hi, me and a few mates managed to win some freebie tickets this year, we'd all been loads of times for the day but camping for the first time this year was a real eye opener for us all and 2 of my mates have vowed never again due to waking up and heading for a shite in the portaloos which were f**king degrading to say the least.

We were camped in RED 3, and just wondering if we simply camped in the wrong section and could have a better experience next year if we camped in a different section?


The toilets in the arena were no bother but waking up at 6am touching cloth was the worst feeling ever having to use those shit holes.


What were the bogs like in YOUR zone this year?

i camped in blue 4 but i never usedd theportaloo, i just stuck 2 the urinal till i was in the main arena! but some of the lassies that used them said they were horrible! lol

they didnt smellthe best when i walked past them in the morning! but 2 b honest its a toilet used by thousands of folk,its not gonna smell fresh as anything!

the ones in red where ok on the rare occasion the other times it was actually piling over with shit and toilet paper. the arena toilets where all clean as anything mind

were they actually emptied over the weekend?

the ones in yellow werent THAT bad... some were worse than others but in general it wasnt too horrendous. They were at the very back of yellow though so you would only use them if you were camped in yellow so probably had less people using them than ones in other areas that people might use as they passed through..

The ones I used in red when I was down at the duracell tent were horrendous.. was nearly sick at the smell before I even got close to it, its not really a surpise people end up pissing in bushes and stuff

i thought the blue ones were ok...but we went right after they got emptied in the morning...if you ignored the smell they werent too bad(no crap pilled up or anything)

Indigo was the same - they were cleaned pretty regularly - but it didnt matter how clean it looked, the smell was godawful no matter when you went.

We were camped in Red 5 and the toilets were absolutely horrendous, no matter when you went there was toilet roll and shit piled up to the top of it - never seen them being cleaned, although they must have been at some time. They were disgusting and made me not want to drink, waking up in the morning and having to use those shitty things was not a good way to start the day. Alright for guys I suppose.

Toilets in the arena were quite clean, suppose anything would seem clean compared to the ones in the campsite. Dont understand why they dont put flushing ones in the campsite where there tens of thousands of people staying for 3 or 4 nights

This baffles me aswell, if smaller festivals can manage it, why cant the biggest in Scotland?

ones in red were horrific. i ended up going to the ones at the next area over and they were spotless, though i did find a used condom in one. grotty!

We were in Red 5 too, quite near the toilets just as you come out of the campsite entertainment bit. They were cleaned out around 8am on Friday and Sunday morning - the only reason I know that is because we were all woken up by the ridiculous amount of noise.

I used the portaloos for the first time ever this year (normally head into Kinross) - once in the campsite and once in the arena, and on both occasions they were pretty much spotless.

If you look on the Aerial Photo post you can get a good look at the amount of toilet blocks there actually were, I counted 7 throughout the whole campsite.

7 Toilet blocks 100 toilets in each (being generous here) / 60000 camper each camper doing 1 jobby a day = Tolley in the Park

The ones down at red were F**Kin bad but they were bad on Thursday when I arrived don't think they were cleaned since last year

The block at the campervan area was OK until Saturday then it was useless.

Anyway u know it's like this every year. Breath in, Hold it....carry on

I wouldn't use the portaloos at a festival. I've heard rumours that people actually shit in them

i was camped in red three, the nearest toilets were in red 10. they were quite rank. i threw up on friday morning just cause they smelled so f**kin rancid. i usually had to open about 5 toilet doors before i could find one i could use. the toilets were a disgrace as usual.

Wow you must have some ability to cross your legs, to have waited to get to Kinross to do the loo, and some kind of strange bladder to only do the toilet twice - I always have to go twenty million times


I was in Red 5 as well, toilets were rank, always are, and I totally agree that DF should give us more toilets of the flushing variety in the camp site. But I do think the nasty bogs are part of the experience - always a good way to bond with randoms in the toilet queue...

red was rotten, nipped into blue at 8am friday morning, had a dump in there, i also saw a group of people pulling sledges out of red at 8am and set up in blue, first ones in there, but must have sat on there stuff all thursday night, lol

the ones in yellow were suprisingly ok, apart from the smell of course. might have just been luck but every time i went to one it was clean i.e. it wasnt overflowing with poo, and there wasnt poo etc all over the place

i was in red - prob used same toilets as rachelbon but i managed to find one that was usually pretty clean - the door of it didnt lock so if there was two of you/you spoke to sum1 in the que n asked them to hold the door with you returning the favour it was pretty spotless STUNK TO HIGH HEAVENS THO!! fukin rank! had my pasmina with me most of the time tho n just scooshed it with perfume n put it over my face! that combined wi hay-fever helped the smell go away a bit!!!

I know this might sound like a stupid suggestion but, why if there having T in the Park every year at the same place, Do they not get proper toilet blocks built with actual plumbing and stuff and actually improve peoples Camping experience. I know campings meant to be about baring the elements and stuff but you pay £170 for the weekend and uv got to wait ion queues for everything and youve still got to pay for stuff on top of that. Every time I've camped the toilets and stuff have always been in the same postion. What do you this geoff:P

i was camping in blue and made the treak to indigo every time i needed the toliet,
the toliets their were fab compared to the rest!!!!

Yellow bogs were ok, i saw the Poo Train come round a few times to clean the toilets.

was indigo not away over the other side of the campsite?? haha

I was in red 9 nd the red toilets were pretty bad, but i have 2 say the whole festival toilet experience overall was good. Other camping areas nd the arena toilets were clean and pleasant .

I think red is just bad cos folk use the loos their when at the Duracell tent or when passing though on the way back from the arena... but overall i though it was ok!
