Rage were IMMENSE.

Opended with Testify, played all the classics including Bullet in the Head, Bulls on Parade, People of the Sun, Guerrila Radio, Sleep Now in the Fire, Know Your Enemy, Vietnow, Calm Like a Bomb, Renegades and Bombtrack.

Finished with Wake Up, Zach put in a speech about George Bush and the whole crowd sat down spontaneously, it was immense. Guitar kicked back in again and the whole place went mental.

Came on for an encore of Freedom and Killing in the Name.

AMAZING.

They wouldn't allow any recordings for TV or radio, so no. You can find some crappy mobile phone coverage on YouTube, but thats it.

Rage's music is clearly incredible, but they're truly money hungry c**ts.

Its bollocks anyway, people hear figures like £500,000 then assume that thats what they're personally getting paid for doing it.

And it wasn't them personally who refused to allow footage of them playing away

People on here have been slagging off the ammount they are suppossed to be getting paid, like I said so what, it hasnt affected the tickets prices so why are people bothered. A weekend ticket costs £160 with additional fees i.e. postage and packing, I'll be watching lets say 7 bands a day, so thats the equivalent of £7.62 per band, for that price who gives a f**k how much money any of the bands is getting for playing.
Gre
But surely if Rage were really about 'the message' and not the money - which is the defence often given by their fans on here, they would rather their performance reaches however many people on a public service broadcaster (The BBC), rather than preaching to the converted who have already paid to see them/the DVD.

And don't try and tell me it wasn't their choice. Bullshit they don't have enough sway with their record company to say whether they put a DVD out. Hell, its not as if they even need a record company these days.
chubbz
People are bothered because it's the height of hypocrisy. They decided not to have themselves shown on the BBC not anyone else. I don't think Epic have much to do with their live performances so they had nothing to do with it.
ikle_me
Just an idea... Anyone thought the language maybe rather OTT for the beeb even very late at night? And as the beeb has exclusive rights to air they could choose not to do so? Not like the beeb will make money from showing RATM (e.g Advertising)

Just a little thought.
Bradders
No because it was Rage who didn't allow the footage, not BBC.

Nope. The prodigy were effing and jeffing with the best of them last night.

But why wouldn't they show one of the headliners of the weekend?

Anyway, its a moot point as Bradders has explained.

Isn't it a fact? Sorry, in the other threads people took it as fact so much that I assumed it was true. huh.gif

It wasn't Rage personally who refused to allow the BBC to show the set as has been alleged, it was the management company:

We are truly sorry that we are unable to broadcast any footage at all of Rage Against The Machine. The band's management have not given us permission to do so.

chubbz
Yes, because Rage will have told their management not to let any film footage be released.

im kinda glad they werent on i dont wanna see highlights before ive seen them myself cant wait
Leprekorn
Saw them, in Lisbon on the 10th July they were fantastic and while getting a T Shirt noticed that Leeds is the last date of their European Tour so I'm hoping for big things.

Also with the massive Anti bush rants that Zach has been doing could this be part of the reason they aren't letting footage be broadcast to aviod legal cases.
jollyrogers
I doubt it, everyone has a pop at Bush these days. And pretty much always have to be honest.
Gre
And its pretty pointless given that he's gonna be gone soon...
rexclark81
I enjoyed Rage at T but they definately weren't as good as they were in 2000. Hopefully they'll be playin a bit heavier at Leeds.
pipedown27
Rage were shit at TITP...

Harsh.

I thought the same, not a fan though I did stay for 2 songs before pissing off to Interpol
rexclark81
I definately don't think they were as good as they could be but I think to call them shit is harsh. I'm not a big fan either but they do get the crowd goin. As I've said before though they were much better in 2000 before they split.
CraigI
I concur - thought they were poor at T.
Bar the good songs (two/three at best) a mediocre set.
Don't believe the hype!

Avoid legal cases..???

Bush, America, 'The West', England, You, Me, whatever..... we can say what we want about George Bush. That's the one main reason why all the the apologists for democracy are such utter twats. There will be no 'legal cases' no matter what some pop band says about the leader of the free world.
