Full Version: Tighter Arena controls?
Festival Forums > Festivals > Reading & Leeds Festivals > Leeds Festival

Someone posted this on ebay in regards to selling reading/leeds tix:

'SeeTickets have been running a massive campaign against anyone who has posted a picture of their ticket to sell on eBay. Their tickets have been cancelled and will not allow access to the arena!

That is why more tickets have been released at face value. So becareful what you buy.

Sourced : The Official Carling Festival Forums.'

Not sure how reliable this is but would this mean tighter controls upon festival or/and wristband exchange?

perhaps a barcode scanner for tickets at the entrances??

you'd think whoever made this up would have the common sense to drop the festival's old sponsor from the "source"

Pah this is complete shit most ebay sellers are too lazy to take their own photos anyway they just google image search for one!

I think (IMO) the arena controls are too srtict already.... Not on tickets but on searches - what are they searching for anyway? Drugs (Yeh, right)? Booze (Stingy bastards)? Bombs?
The wristbands Ive always thought to be easily fakable myself much easier than the tickets anyway but I gue you have to have one before you can fake it...

Complete bollocks!! They have said that about T in the park for the last couple of years and there is still no evidence to support it what so ever!!

Scare tactics by the ticket agencies so they can be seen to fighting the touts. Geof Ellis always mentions it in the week leading up to T when publicity is high. 3 months too late to be warning people of a fake policy if you ask me!

Hi All,
Sorry to break the news to everyone but as someone who works for a ticket agency that being Ticketmaster, i am inclined to say this is prolly very true! I know from first hand experience in work that tickets which are photographed and posted on ebay are actually cancelled!! So Just be careful if you are buying tickets on ebay.

What a pointless and futile exercise that must be. Of 3 pages of results there were 3 sellers with photos.

Of the 3, I can't see how Ticketmaster can identify the tickets.

Good job they're cracking down on the touts for us! laugh.gif wink.gif

This doesnt really make sense at Leeds as the tickets aren't scanned or anything, the numbers arent checked just taken put in a pouch thing and you are given a wristband. Same upon entry you just flash the ticket and they let you in upon 1st arrival...

To be honest, Im very suprised there isnt more fakes being mae, I guess the hologram things makes it hard mind you...

At T in the park the have a system by where they scan you and the take some of your ticket in exchange for a wrist band. But you keep part of the ticket.

you then have to produce both your ticket (for scanning) and wristband to get anywhere between the camp site and arena.

It's a flawed system and I pray they don't try to introduce it to Leeds. Your ticket gets wet, you have to speak to security and sort it out.

Fold the ticket through the bar code, see above!!

More half arsed anti tout measures which serve to inconvenience the regular festival goers. laugh.gif

well the last couple of years iv hardly ever needed to unfold my tickets and just hold up the tickets, even though it wud look like any old piece of card to the security and yet theyv passed me through.

if they did what was done by T according to biffoire then surely this would mean longer queueing at wristband exchange sad.gif

At T they scan your ticket at the wristband exchange, into the arena (yes every time) and out of the arena and into the campsite! So you have your ticket scanned at near enough every security point, in and out. Strangely, there is never a problem with queueing. There's a short wait but no worse than getting into the arena at reading!!

I can't see the organisers wanting to do that!?
