Yeah but guess who makes the profit? not the seller.....
it's apparently people who have bought tickets from ticket master but can't go so just put tickets up on the exchange site they lose their booking fee/postage but sell the tickets all profit goes to ticketmaster.
To be honest I don't think the add ons are as bad as their other sister site getmein.com which has scary add ons!!!

Edit - big companies can do what they want most of the time...

The tickets are being sold for different prices so there's no way the profit can be going to ticketmaster. The seller must be setting their own ticket price.

It is truly shocking that in a hollow attempt at cutting out touting ticketmaster are advocating and fascilitating touts mad.gif

ticket exchange beating the ticket touts
how is this justified????

It's a total Joke - they even have a quote on the site saying that re-selling the tickets through unofficial sources is against the T&C and tickets may be cancelled !! Just ticket master wanting a slice of the touting market !

i phone ticketmaster regarding this and they have not got a clue. the only answer i got was "eh its the promoters that have priced these tickets and there is a service charge on top" aye of course, its over double mate. "yeah like i said it is the promoters who have dictated the price". Aye right.

Anyway anyone wanting to abuse ticketmaster for a real reason the customer service number is 0870 153 53 53.
Man Of The People
I was of the belief that the ticket exchange was for any "spare" tickets to be passed on at face value and not touted at huge profit.
Shocking stuff.

a legislation was passed a few months ago which asked ticket companies to verrify the resale of tickets. ticket exchange has been setup as a peer to peer service which allows people who have purchased tickets and can no long go to resell them. we do not stipulate the price, since it's a peer to peer service this allows people to set a price that others will pay.

in other words "'MON THE TOUTS"

the above is from a conversation with a "supervisor" at ticketmaster.

One interesting question / answer on the site -

I have two seats next to each other for the same show, but they're not the same price. Can I post these together?

All tickets bundled in a single posting must have the same original purchase price. Tickets that have different original prices must be posted separately.

So they are actually allowing people to sell tickets for more than face value?

right guys i'm now on a rant about f*kin ticket touts.

Does anyone remember their been some vote at westminster regarding making ticket touting illegal? And also that it was knocked back?? why'd they knock it back?

How about this shity government either labour or snp do something good for britain/scotland and vote yes on issues like this? I see they have managed to squeeze through some special bill that makes it illegal to tout tickets for the common wealth games in glasgow so we look good to other nations. Why not look good to your voters and ban touting all together.

Not that i'm a major political boffin but these guys are been paid fortunes to do sod all.

Yep, it annoys me no end that they can go on and sell tickets with over 100% mark up...however, if people are willing to buy them at that price, more fool them. I really really want to go (Sunday ticket required), but afraid I refuse to give these clowns my business. If people are not willing to pay the over inflated prices they will have to drop them.

However, it is one thing touts doing it, but it is another thing when it is genuine music fans who now cannot go and are making a lot of money out of those who do want to. In the past when I have not been able to go to a sold out gig, I sell the tickets at face value. Surprised that more are not doing the same with T....

Ticketmaster ticketexchange no better than ticket touts
Currently ticketexchange is selling face value tickets of £160 For over £300 I am referring specifically to T in the park weekend with camping?

how is this justified in beating the ticket touts???

In a statement, organisers said they were recommending ticketholders to sign up to Ticketmasters' TicketExchange system, which allows ticket holders to resell their briefs at genuine face value.

i recieved an email tonight from ticket master priorty and it said there was a few remaining Platinum ticktets available. When i clicked on the link it took me to the ticket exchange over priced ticktets, is that what these are?

Ticket exchange also states that when you sell tickets via them you need to enter the barcode off your tickets so they then get written off so to speak, so maybe it is not people selling tickets because nobody has recieved their tickets yet, have they?
Sgt. Pepper
Hmm strange, could have sworn I had an email last year about how ticketexchange was the new amazing way to beat touting.....

good stuff
eviltwin_sco
ticket prices have come down from300+ to 230 -250

booshsutton
i was a bit shocked by all this, so basically ticketmaster are now promoting touting via their own website? Thats disgusting! What hope do we have if even now they are letting people tout tickets on their own site? The prices for T this year are bad enough in the first place without having to pay touts. I'd rather buy on ebay than use this system now, cos at least that way ticketmaster aren't making nay cash from it...
andypandy222
to revve an ol thread, i think you`ll find that the ticket exchange is rock all to do with touts and everything to do with ticketmaster holding back the best seats and selling them under the guise of joe public.

how else can they explain that for both tina turner at the MEN and leonard cohen at the O2 (which is only on presale as from 9am this morning) the front 10 rows have appeared straight on ticket exchange without ever being sold to the general public. i can`t believe this is legal for one minute.

selling under the pretence of an `exchange`??? mad.gif
