The fact that everyone would be allowed to stand and dance would be something over Manchester wouldnt it?

It would be brilliant to have the Gorillaz at the G especially if it was like the Demon Days live with all the guests. Pyramid over Other Stage definitely though. Better viewing and better screen action. Other Stage field is too flat to get a good view of the screens in detail once you are anywhere past the mixing desk.

i'd have thought they are easily big enough to headline, they'd be awesome. they are obviously very much world famous. and with all the guests and stuff it'd be spectacular.
i'd be up for it anyways.

I'd quite like to see them but I'd feel a little disappointed if they were a pyramid headliner - especially as if they completed a lineup of u2 and muse then that'd probably represent a slight step down from last years headliners - and wouldn't be conforming the whole idea of this being a really big year.

I just don't think they have enough top songs to headline really - when you look at the facts - (assuming they would be/have been booked before the release of their third album) - then they've had two albums and about 5 top 40s.

I think they'd be a perfect other stage headliner - I think they're more in keeping with what the other stage stands for - fairly contemporary and off the wall - but I just don't really think they're deserving of a pyramid headline slot anymore than a lot of other bands who will be there in lower slots. :P

There are enough stars and noise around Gorillaz and anything D A does to make them a contender to headline ANY festival. As to where they could play? As has been made apparent anyone could play anywhere at any time. However, with the Gorrilaz comes the stage show so probably the Pyramid or Other for logistics. As for will they get the guests to turn up? Who gives a toss, the site is littered with people who pretty much just play records or twiddle knobs and they get major billing and rightly so. I hope they show up regardless of what they show up with.

One other thing to consider. Does DA want to go back to Glastonbury & perform with a different band so soon after what is generally considered, by audience and band alike, to be one of the greatest performances of his career?

If it was me, I would want that memory to last for as long as possible, but playing again so soon would go a long way to blur it.

Chaps

I can categorically say that Gorillaz will not be appearing at Glastonbury this year. Shame, but there it is.

Now now lets not throw this out the window based on the advice of one person. That would be like the country going to war with Iraq based on what a taxi driver told us.

I think it was a long shot that they'd play anyway.

from the Q magazine (march 2010 issue)

Quote

Niccals reckons The End of Days must be upon us. "Gorrilaz will now party like it's round about 2010" he grimaces "the end of all things." His plans for the year, he says: "just stayin' alive man. I reckon Gorillaz will be touring too, so that should be fun." Rumours say they'll be headlining Choachella. And what about Glastonbury? "I went to see Bowie there when he first played, Hawkwind were headlining. I was only 5. Who knows? If I did have plans, I wouldn't tell you..."

Would be an amazing choice for headlining, far better than some of the other names getting bandied about.

Look who is all involved in the new album:

  • 'Orchestral Intro'
  • 'Welcome To The World Of The Plastic Beach' (feat. Snoop Dogg)
  • 'White Flag (feat. Kano & Bashy)
  • 'Rhinestone Eyes'
  • 'Stylo' (feat. Bobby Womack and Mos Def)
  • 'Superfast Jellyfish' (feat. Gruff Rhys and De La Soul)
  • 'Empire Ants' (feat. Little Dragon)
  • 'Glitter Freeze' (feat. Mark E Smith)
  • 'Some Kind Of Nature' (feat. Lou Reed)
  • 'On Melancholy Hill'
  • 'Broken'
  • 'Sweepstakes' (feat. Mos Def & Hypnotic Brass Ensemble)
  • 'Plastic Beach' (feat. Mick Jones & Paul Simonon)
  • 'To Binge' (feat. Little Dragon)
  • 'Cloud Of Unknowing' (feat. Bobby Womack)
  • 'Pirate Jet'

f**k YEAH!!!

Gorillaz are set to play massive UK gigs this summer, Damon Albarn has told NME.COM.

The singer was speaking at last night's (February 24) Shockwaves NME Awards where Blur picked up the best Live Event award for their London Hyde Park shows last summer.

"At the moment I wouldn't want to play Glastonbury or something because I'd be setting myself a very high benchmark but we're definitely going to play some big gigs in the UK or in England or in London this year," he said. "The band is sounding really good, I'm really excited."

sounds different this time as they have mick jones and paul simonen, so will be a proper band. Don't think I can afford a big hyde park gig as well as glastonbury though

The show is suitable for club shows, dance stages, DJ line ups and of course corporate bookings where a visual theme can be bespoked for you.

seems they'll play anywhere for enough cash!
