How to hear first about available tickets Here's how I did it

Before going any further, I should say that I don't have a solution to get tickets today, but if you're still without tickets then this might help you in February when people fail to pay the remainder of the ticket price and their tickets go back in circulation.

Long story short: when the tickets went on sale the first time I missed them. I was absolutely gutted. If you're reading this without them then I know how you feel.

Because I'm a bit geeky I decided to get the internet to help. I got a site called Follow That Page to look at the SeeTickets site every hour and tell me if there has been any changes.

Today, while I was out shopping, my phone beeped and said...

The page http://www.seetickets.com/g2010/ has changed since the previous check.

Changed:
- If you would like to pay a deposit - SOLD OUT
... into:
+ If you would like to pay a deposit , please click here.

Changed:
- If you would like to purchase full tickets - SOLD OUT
... into:
+ If you would like to purchase full tickets , please click here

I ran to the nearest internet machine and bought my ticket.

So if you're still without a ticket, I heartily recommend the 'Follow That Page' service. It will check the page every hour. If you really want to hear first, then there's also a tool called Outposted. It'll check every minute, but it's a bit fiddly to set up and relies on you leaving your PC on.

Hope that's of some use to someone.

Interesting, take it you get e mails on your phone as I can't see where to add a mobile?

Yes. I get mails on my phone.

It's possible to get a text when it's updated, but that's more fiddly. You could set up an e-mail account at a company like 1and1 which has the ability the send a text each time you get a mail. Last I looked, they want £1 per text though.

Just curious! Have set it up and will report my findings, I have a ticket but am looking for one for a fellow boarder!

Cheers for that! ;)

If you've got Firefox theres an extension called check4change that someone linked me too on here, it's brilliant and automatically refreshes the page for you at whatever interval you want then informs you if the page changes.

Not sure if it can be set up to text you stuff but it's another option for people.

I also set up Follow That Page, and got the same notification.

I can check my Yahoo! mail on my phone, which is how I picked it up.

But an easy way to get SMS messages if you happen to use orange broadband -- orange email has the facility to SMS you when your orange email receives messages.

Incidentally the Glastofest Twitter didn't carry any news of the ticket sale, which doesn't say much for Glastofest Twitter.

here's how you can set up hotmail to text you when you get a 'follow that page' email.
