The festival season is in full swing and starting off the eventful calendar was the Southern Lights Festival 2010 in the scenic location of Kimmeridge, Dorset.

Overlooking the Purbecks, this festival is a hidden gem as it attracts circus performers from around the globe. The weekend invites street artists and the public to get together and watch shows, develop skills in the workshops and dance the night away to live music and DJs.

With a 500 people capacity the festival offers a safe and fun experience. This year tickets sold out and seeing the line-up of entertainment, you can understand why.

Workshops were hosted by a high calibre of talent such as the world champion hula hooper Safire from Canada. The shows also introduced quality performances such as Francois Bouille from France and the all round entertainment act, Loop, from Germany.

Party people traveled from all over the globe to perform, practice and soak up the sunshine. This is an ideal event for families and those simply looking to have a good time.

A field of campers hula hooping, juggling, fire performing, ball balancing, singing and dancing offers very good value for money. Plus music acts such as Schmoo from Manchester and Elephant Talk who are also hitting the stage at Glastonbury were entertaining in the evening.

Founder and organiser, Simon Chainey is a man to watch out for in festival land. Simon not only commits much passion and effort to make this event happen, yet is a top class performer himself in fire and street art. Mr Chainey comments "This year has been a great success for Southern Lights. In it's fourth year myself and fellow organisers are delighted with the lovely people that come along to relax and appreciate creative talent. We give festival goers the opportunity to get involved in the workshops and also watch world class performers."

The Southern Lights Festival has a very special niche and known as Europe's largest event for performers to meet up every year. Plans are already happening for 2011 and with such an overwhelming response from this year's event, the Southern Lights Festival is one to watch out for.
