New Beginning

Our new neighbours moved in yesterday more bleedin' students - Exeter students have too much cash - a top of the range rangerover with new plates, a 2004 mini cooper a Capri and 3 VW Golfs all now reside littering the roads! Opposite new students also moved in. So we've had enough - last year we had no rubbish collection cos their cars blocked the road, a sleepless daughter from their late night swearing and partying, our garden used as their tip! So we're not going through it again and putt

Electrifying!

Got phoned up Tuesday out of the blue and told that today i was to go to hospital for a Neural Response Test in the neurphysiology department - so off i go - getting 'white coat syndrome' and have myself electrocuted - ahh happy days - like holding onto electric fences it were - great fun and no hint despite asking as to how the test went - though he did ask if i had problems with my little fingers - can't say as I've noticed and also the last test on my feet i couldn't feel when he put the elec

Back to School

Well I'm being driven mad at work by Sleeping Beauty - I'm putting a comic book with games in it of the story together and the story is too short so I'm having to pad the thing out and trying to do it by just adding floss rather than my natural instinct to add superfluous stuff and confuse kids through out Europe. You know like saying she had a puppy or that her sister escaped the curse etc. But no i have to stick to the traditional story, bah. Anyways, it's also the first day back at school.

What a day!

Wow - slightly hung over after a glorious weekend. The mighty Everton thrashed the Reds! Yay! We managed to find a pub to watch it in. For a while yesterday we were top of the League!!! I'm able to tolerate smoking marshmallow leaves and so severely cutting down on my nicotine intake! Plymouth were all over QPR and unlucky not to have won - they drew - but the team are playing football Akos (golden boots) is class and so is the mighty Uncle Barry. They're good enough on yesterdays performanc

I really want to go and see this. so i thought I'd mention that the Monty Python stage show - starring none of the Pythons but with Rice as King Arfur has hit the West End. This way hopefully I'll remember to request tickets for Christmas. Which reminds me dammit I've been sucked into the whole Xmas present thing already! To the extent that my mind is already making lists and thinking hmmm add that to the Xmas list. It's not even Halloween yet FFS!

...and on a more positive note!

Sorry about the last blog, was feeling a bit down! anyway in the words of Culture Shock (i think) Onwards and Upwards! A couple of days ago Z brought home her saxophone and already the sound has gone from sounding like a foghorn to sounding a bit like 'in The Mood' This is fantastic and I'll tell you for why! She'll want to go and see Nick Turner now (and less excitingly The Zutons) which is great news - can't wait til she learns silver machine - it'll be a proud dad moment that day! Z also a

Family ehhh!

Stitched up like a right kipper I've been and here's for why. Babysitting for my sister tomorrow - looking after my neice while her parents take their yacht out for a race. Fine. she phones me yesterday saying as I can cook (trained chef doncha know) how about I make them a meal for when they get back. Okay I say, conversation meanders on a while, then I say how many am I cooking for? she says 9 to 11 including kids and crew! Nine! Terrific! Also they drink like fishes and yes I know I do,

No beer at the pub!

Last night went up the New North Bridge Inn for a beer and they had none - only bottles and cans no draught stuff at all!!! Never been to a pub without beer before. Worked my butt off in work and it's all done, awaiting proofing and signing off then I'm off to the pub and then home to pack for Beaut Days. Terrific! Will blog when i get back!

Guideponies! WTF!

A continuing saga of bizarre animal facts! So currently the feature I'm doing is on miniature horses and these creatures: Now i'm not sure whether to put this in jokes. Is it real? Or has someone made this whole site about them as a joke? guidehorses click The picture of a horse in trainers looks fake! and the pictures on here: click had me in stitches faves include: and Their feature on ponies in the movies click had me convinced it was joke! So i checked IMDB for

lazy days

Ah well the boss is still away, says he may not even be back by Friday - bonus ball! Spent most of last night trying to fix the Quake virus - bloody nightmare! Mind you if i wasn't such a cheap skate I'd by proper malware protection instead of winging it with Microsofts oblivious Defender (Beta) also 2 of the fish are suffering. One has dropsy (Neon Rainbowfish) and the other is on the bottom looking a bit on her last fins (Blue Gourami). So checked water stats - all spot on! Dammit why a

...too much work = not feeling festive

Up to my eyeballs in Valentine magazines and the Christmas mags seem a long time ago now - so the festive spirit has drained away. We've got Seth Lakeman and Daniel Donnelly and a chat to a few of the people behind the Beautiful Days festival to lift our spirits on Thursday. But it just doesn't feel xmasy at the moment and the bad light and cold weather is wearing the old batteries down. All this not helped by having to scatter the old man's ashes up on the cliffs last weekend - my sister and

Soon be Beltaine

to find someway to explain what i mean about ancestors when the answer appeared in the book i was reading a while ago. A Hat Full Of Sky by Terry Pratchett here is what Tiffany says to the Hiver (Arthur) on page 304. And that's pretty much nail on head. Our responses are either monkey, lizard, rat, fish, or a host of other old echoes. It's knowing which impulse rules your head in conflict or need at any moment which gives us the ability to control it and remain human.

Ready to Party - yeahhhhhhhh

Yes we got Glasto tickets (though technically Neil got them as he managed to get the page open) then straight after up popped the page on my PC and away i went getting tickets for random efesters including one lot whose address had no vowels in the whole thing! This year as we got tickets the radio was playing Boogie 2 Nite so we got up and leapt about to: glastonbury obviously! Managed to get some sleep this year for a change, i think going to the Exeter Food and Drink thing helped

Chip off the old blog?

Seem our daughter Z has been nominated by her new school - for a special award she's competing with 100 or so Exeter school kids for the Excellence in Exeter Award - we all have to attend a posh event at the Universtiy where we'll find out if she's won. even if she hasn't she wins a pin and a certificate. i'm dead chuffed she's up against some kids nearly doubly her age! Of course like her parent she'll discover drink and drugs at 14 and screw her academic life up as she goes off the rails - b

Target Practice

Well two significant things today: Firstly it's the first anniversary of my Dad's death. It's depressing having no family as they're the only folks actually interested in what you're doing. I've seen him briefly in the 'otherworld' and he's happy enough i think. But I've kind of knocked the whole spirit stuff on the head the last few months, too many people opposed to my views i guess and withdrawn myself from the edges of the spiritworld. I've had the occasional trickster, laughing at my sit

Red Square

It's Monday and the tide is indeed high but I'm holding on. it was friend's birthday last weekend and they'd organised for their friends to all get together and have a meal in a local Russian restuarant. Nice food but very expensive. £18 for reindeer steaks! Anyway the beer was unpronouncable and strong, the wine from France and the menu incomprehensible. The waitresses spoke little English and all looked like girls you might have seen in dodgy porn, or so i was told. There was a whole seper

Here Comes The Rain!

Everyone seems a bit despondant about the weather, but i don't seem to mind it in the slightest. K moans cos it effects her camera - and she has a point. But me I'm quite looking forward to my pint staying a bit cooler. Ground's too dry for much mud - so I'm happy. Only for Reading would it seriously get me down and that's only cos the whole place turns depressing. So I'm not that bothered! I'm more worried about the non-appearance of Z's present from a website I've never used before! 24 hou

More on Neuropathy

http://www.neuropathy.org/site/PageServer What is Neuropathy? Peripheral Neuropathy, also known as Peripheral Nerve Disease, is one of the most common diseases most people have never heard of (15-20 million Americans have peripheral nerve disease). Caused by deterioration of the peripheral nerves, neuropathy disrupts the body’s ability to communicate with its muscles, organs and tissues. Neuropathy is like the body’s wiring system going haywire, causing unusual or unpleasant irritations incl

Archery

Well yesterday's archery was great fun and knackering! The ECOA (Exeter Company of Archers) has around 80 members and run loads of tournaments. I've been 'fitted' for my bow a 68" 20lb left handed one - number 43! And did pretty well getting most in the centre of the target and I was surprised how knackered i was after two hours of constant shooting. Z did really well as well, and is hoping to compete in junior nationals next year! But i was told my technique probably rules me out for Olympics 2
