UK Outlook for Sunday 20 Jun 2010 to Tuesday 29 Jun 2010:

Into the beginning of the new week, it should remain largely dry for most areas of the UK, with variable cloud and sunny periods. The exception being more cloud and occasional mainly light rain at times in the far north, and isolated light showers in southeastern parts, possibly extending to other areas by mid-week. It will feel warm in any prolonged sunshine, especially further south and west, and in light winds. Temperatures should be near or above normal, though cooler on northern and eastern coasts with a fresh northeasterly breeze. There is a trend to turn more unsettled for most parts later next week and into the weekend, mainly for the north and west, with spells of rain or showers. Temperatures remaining near or slightly above normal.

Guardian on the met office predictions:

Also - if you have read this can you post a comment? Just so I know if it's worthwhile still updating this for anyone others than me :)

Cheers

So JACKONE has posted their latest reading of the forecasts, and it doesn't look great.

http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/62778-gla...orecast-blog-2/

(you can read part one of their glasto weather blog HERE )

It seems the prediction of great weather by met check is based on just one of the chart readings, and that reading disagrees with the rest of the weeks reading, so I wouldn't go and break the bank buying a new cool box just yet...

I'll just quote a small amount of what JACKONE posted, as you can read the rest and thier excellent blog at the link above:

So this week there have been 7 daily forecasts. 2 of the above go for settled conditions, 3 rather unsettled forecasts with rain at times, and 2 go for a washout festival. So on this basis, the festive is likely to be wetter and more unsettled than average.

Looks like they will updating thier blog later today, so be sure to check it out.

But once again - I'd go for still to early to call - the really accurate predictions won't be here until the 13th at the earliest, and even then I don't trust much above 3 days (unless the forecast is sun... :D )

It's a while off before most of the decent forecasts will swing into play (few sites don't go much above 10 days, or most stick to 5 or less)

But here are the main ones I check for their opinion - before checking the long range charts:

16 day forecast for glasto will be here:

LINK>>> - http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=events;sess= from the 9th of June - just choose the correct details from the drop down. Should be out first good look at what might happen!

---

LINK>>> - met office - check out the UK wide long range view :D

LINK>>> - 10 day www.weather.co.uk pretty accurate

LINK>>> - decent 9 day - weatherforecast.com

LINK>>> - In depth 5 day - weathercity.com

LINK>>> - Yahoo 5 day

LINK>>> - BBC - toggles between 5 day and indepth 24hour weather

And rough guesses:

Guardian predicts good weather (in a very general way...)

guardian.co.uk glasto 10

The Gorge usually puts together some sort of weather guide in the weeks before the festival:

gorge.org - glasto 2010

I'll be hitting all those sites on the refresh between now and the big day!

My bet as of today and the latest charts and a lot of guessing? Great weather - warm days, cool nights :) - BUT until about 3 days before, it really is anyones call!

Live webcam of glasto

So the BBC webcam has been running for a good while now, always interesting to see what is going on on the farm, and to see their weather predictions:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/glastonbury/webcam/webcam3.shtml#webcam (sadly this site won't let me embed the widget - but see below for the latest images)

these images will auto update every 10 minutes, so check back soon to see what is happening on the farm

Also check this link to find out where the cams are based, with loads more useful info: http://host.blucube.co.uk/~tievolu/glasto/webcam2009.htm

At the time of writing the BBC Glasto forecast is not looking too great, but not too bad - with just light showers predicted and cloud - BUT it's still too early to tell really.

BUT I'll tell you how you can use the webcam, and 3 other piece of info to predict the weather for the next 24 hours yourself... in my next post :D

If you look at: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_...st_weather.html and then click on the 16 to 30 day forecast you are told:

UK Outlook for Friday 18 Jun 2010 to Friday 2 Jul 2010:

The somewhat unsettled theme with sunshine and showers is likely to continue at first. However, there are indications that there may be a trend towards higher pressure giving drier, brighter and warmer conditions with some sunnier parts perhaps very warm. Southern and western parts may see more in the way of rainfall with the possibility of some thundery weather, whilst northern and eastern regions should remain drier.

Updated: 1226 on Thu 3 Jun 2010

Not looking too good eh?

Well the higher pressure is what we really have to hope for. I can't give you a figure for what sort of level of pressure we will be looking for then - as the term high pressure is just relative to whatever the pressure was in the days before you take the reading.

The outlook for thundery showers isn't really something that should shock us looking back at weather this time of year in previous years, also considering the European Monsoon season: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsoon#Europe

All we could do is as Glastonbury Festivals to either move the date of the festival into July when the weather is more settled, or more the festival East - where we won't be so affected by the cool, damp air and low pressure coming off the Atlantic.

But as said before, don't worry just yet, a hell of a lot can and will change between now and June 23rd (19 days and counting...)

I'll try to update this at least daily to keep you up to date with the latest outlook for glastonbury festival 2010!

At the moment the weather is looking mixed and uncertain - not suprising really since weather forecasting is more art that science at this far away from the event.

Here are the currect metcheck feelings:
