This is an exciting opportunity to celebrate nature, culture, landscape and life along the River Wye. Starting at Hereford on May 3,the Wye Valley River Festival events flow downstream as communities contribute to the lively and thought-provoking programme. The Festival's grand finale is in Chepstow on May 18.The river is rising. Nature is on trial – who will speak for the spirit of the Wye?

The Wye Valley River Festival follows the story of Ratty the Wye water vole, leader of the Creatures' Republic of Wye (CROW), who is on the run from predatory prosecutor Mink and Judge Wild Boar. The twists and turns of the chase unfold in a series of community and arts events down the river. Desperate Men are designing this innovative arts event. Ratty is finally captured and brought to trial at a Grand Assizes in Monmouth’s 16th century Shire Hall. The events lead to a spectacular final at Chepstow Bridge with massed choir, fire, flame and illuminations.

We have human fountains, tightrope walking over the Wye, Vera the human manipulated vehicle, talks, exhibitions, music perfomances and festivals, fetes, picnics and a whole raft of entertainment. Go onto www.wyevalleyaonb.org.uk to look at our progranmme of events at each city, town and village along the river.

    Hey guys,

Just joined up here, looking to go to my first festival(s) this year, although most of my friends are not into that sort of thing. Would love to meet some other people to go with, I would be travelling from my home town Manchester or uni town Huddersfield.

    Hey guys,

I am doing my dissertation topic on "what motivates people to attend the Wireless Festival?"

If you have been can you please identify what motivated you to go and whether those motivation or expectations you had were met?

If you have not been, based on what you have seen or heard what would motivate you to attend the Wireless Festival?

Any comments regrading the topic are useful and appreciated.

Please help, and thank you for the responses :)

blog-0454373001392096103.jpgPeople construct incredible things out of ice and snow, decorating them with lights and lasers.

The annual Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival has been held since 1963. It had been balked for a number of years during the Cultural Revolution.

Harbin is situated in North China underneath the direct blast from the cold winter months wind via Siberia. The common temperature inside summer is actually 21. two degrees Celsius as well as in winter months is -16. 8 certifications Celsius. Yearly low temperature below -35C aren’t unusual.

The festival starts Present cards 5th to be able to February sixth. However your displays usually open previously and keep longer, weather conditions permitting. Ice sculptures beautify technological innovation bounds from the modern (using lasers) to be able to traditional (with glaciers lanterns). While you will find ice sculptures throughout the city, you will find two significant display places: Ample excellent skiing conditions sculptures from Sun Is (a recreational area for the opposite side from the Songhua River from the city) plus the separate “Ice as well as Snow World” of which drives every night. Ice as well as Snow Earth builds illuminated full dimensions buildings made out of blocks connected with 2–3 feet thick crystal clear ice. You will find ice lantern planting touring activities held in most parks inside city. Winter activities inside festival consist of Yabuli alpine winter sports, winter-swimming inside Songhua Water, and your ice-lantern exhibit in Zhaolin Lawn.

The Harbin festival would be the biggest glaciers and excellent skiing conditions festival on earth. Other big ice as well as snow celebrations including Japan’s Sapporo Ideal Festival, Canada’s Quebec City Winter weather Carnival, as well as Norway’s Skiing Festival.

Rhondda Rocks 2013 – The Factory, Porth

    Friday 2nd – Sunday 4th August

Back for it’s 2nd successive year, Rhondda Rocks 2013 is the landmark three-day live music event celebrated in the very heart of Rhondda at the iconic Factory Music Venue, Porth, South Wales.

Over one weekend in August, we're giving music-lovers a rare chance to witness local and national musical pedigree over multiple stages. We're pooling together our expertise, ethos and all year programme; in order to unite good people with good music.

Performing at this years Rhondda Rocks festival, we have announced a stellar line-up appealing to many of our audiences musical tastes young and old.

Saturday’s headliners are legendary late-80's band The Primitives, famous for their 1988 international hit 'Crash', which was featured on the hit Jim Carey movie, Dumb and Dumber.

Sunday's headlining act are cheeky mid-90's Liverpudlian band, Space, who came to prominence with global hit singles such as “Female of the Species” and "The Ballad of Tom Jones”. A perfect opportunity for reuniting Tom Jones and Cerys Matthews?

We're also presenting a current wave of new music with appearances from Sweet Baboo aka Stephen Black, a native of the North Wales countryside and a flamboyant single-minded, singer-songwriter. We're particularly excited to present Islet at this years festival. An incredible 4-piece psych-prog outfit from Cardiff, renowned for their explosive live shows. Another highlight, is a slot from Keys, a stomping garage-rock band who draw influence from Frank Zappa, The Black Keys and The Kinks. For lovers of nostalgic indie, also on the bill is legendary Bluetones' frontman, Mark Morriss, who'll be performing versions of his hit singles with a stripped back guitar.

Sticking to our ethos and providing lots of opportunities for homegrown talent, we have performances from The Coalition, Blackbyrd, Replaced with Robots, Zephyr Reign, Cherry Rebels, and many more live acts who will be celebrating Rhondda Rocks with us over the weekend.

The weekend will be bustling with lots more activity including stages designated to comedy and showcasing acoustic artists from all over South Wales. We will also be presenting stalls featuring local independent traders/artists, Rhondda Renegades Roller Derby team, exhibitions, arts activity and all round family-friendly atmosphere throughout.

“It’s such an honor to be involved with Rhondda Rocks 2013. Building upon the success of its first year it’s amazing to see how much the reputation has grown; bringing internationally renowned artists but still striving to give local talent a platform”

Sadye Baker, Festival Marketing and Artist Liaison

“We want to give back to all the people that have supported The Factory as a music venue over this last year. It’s great to be able to bring a festival to the Rhondda for the second year running and that people can come along to and really be part of the experience”

    John Davies, Festival Director

“Rhondda Rocks has been a ongoing love-affair for us all at The Factory. We've been steadily bring national talent to the Rhondda over the last twelve months, under the Rhondda Rocks banner. Our festival in August is the pinnacle of this and its going to be an incredible explosion of local and national pedigree over one weekend. Its fair to say, theres lots of hard work ahead but we're really thrilled that such a great event is coming to Rhondda!”

Blog number 3. Lets see how this goes. If nothing else, it'll help try and keep track of who we want to see at Glastonbury. Which is going to be tricky considering we're a couple with quite disparate music tastes to start with and he's only coming to Glastonbury to humour me.

    So.

I'm a mid 30's woman with a premier sub to Spotify and a lot of downloaded playlists in my phone. I listen to a lot of music through a very nice pair of headphones that are so shiny I'm too embarrassed to wear them outside of work. I'm shy, crowdphobic, probably slightly aspie and a professional geek.

No, I don't know why 137,000 bod festival sounded like a good idea either. I just got sick of not doing stuff cos I was scared I guess.

Anyway. I need to go work out what I want to write about here.

  8. I am a final year student at Manchester Metropolitan University, currently completing a research project on customer's loyalty towards music festivals. If you could take a few minutes to fill in this survey, it would be much appreciated. All results are confidential and anonymous. You can stop the survey at anytime.

    Thank you.
