The Barenaked Ladies came on to the main stage at V2000 bedecked in some delightful outfits. They sported nice pastel coloured, lime green shirts with appealingly pale blue trousers. All in good old synthetic fibres I believe. They looked smashing. Apparently before the set there had been a drama: one shirt was missing from the bands normal kit, and drastic action had to be taken, so the drummer went and bought them all those lovely lime green shirts.

It's this commitment to detail that sets the Barenaked Ladies apart from other similarly styled bands. Their music is fun and witty, yet well played and tuneful. They entertained the swelling crowd at V2000 with their humorous songs such as 'It's all been done' and 'If I had a Million Dollars', mixing in bits of other's songs such as Cher, Fat Boy Slim, Culture Club and Eminem. The crowd cheered as singer Ed Robertson pranced around the stage, acting out stories or telling tales. The band announced their intention to be the next big 'boy band' or perhaps 'man band' and they did some fab synchronised dancing around the stage in the boy band tradition (lots of thrusting). The crowd laughed and cheered, enjoying this mad-cap behaviour.

The band also played some of their more serious songs from the new album 'Maroon', which also went down well with the crowd. But it was the jokes that the crowd responded to most. It was all a bit of a laugh and a dance along with some great musical skill - linking rock and pop together to create some nice songs.

PS. The Bloodhound Gang were funnier I'm afraid and overall more contemporary despite their lack of skill.
