T in the Park 2000 review Wed 12th Jul 00
"Motherfuckers .Fuck You" and with that endearing chant as Iggy burst on to the stage the mayhem commenced. No word of warning, just straight into it. "Yes, I do know I'm in fucking Scotland" he screams as he commences with Raw Power gyrating around the stage with energy that is amazing considering his age. He is wearing tight leather trousers and little else, showing off his six pack (ish) as he squirms around the stage wrapping the microphone lead around his forearm simulating shooting up.
He plays many favourites including Search & Destroy, Lust For Life and The Passenger at which point the crowd are going wild and some join him on stage. Iggy's strong vocals and manic physical presence are spellbinding and the reaction is hugely impressive with a fittingly awesome response from the audience who are mesmerised at this point.
Iggy seems to have a following in Scotland that is more fanatical than anywhere else. Iggy responds by performing with a passion and energy that is unrivalled this weekend. The Scots can call him their own on this evidence .. review by Stuart McCandlish photos by Stuart McCandlish & Neil Greenway
