T in the Park 2000 review Wed 12th Jul 00 Fun Lovin' Criminals have become a regular fixture in the UK festival calendar, and with Huey enjoying himself as much as it seemed here you can see why. FLC emerged with Huey sporting his no 1 hair cut with trademark goatee to a big welcome. He told us he had a bad hangover but that lager and the healthy sized crowd had sorted him out. Huey Huey was sung out in between songs, plenty of lager in his audience too. With a simple 3 piece band huddled in the middle of the stage they looked rather small but packed a big punch when they got going. Fun Lovin' Criminals was the first track which received an excellent reception followed by other instantly recognisable tracks; Up On The Hill, Korean Bodega, King of New York, Southside with Huey throwing the odd guitar solo in. "I think you know this song" as he launched into a spectacularly popular Scooby Snacks. A new song Where The Bums Go with a punky edge to it followed by Smoke 'Em, All For Self and finally Big Night Out.
FLC live have an edge that is completely different from their recorded music. That coupled with Huey's charisma and popularity makes for an entertaining set. Shame then that this year they have played their only festival appearance. review by Stuart McCandlish photos by Stuart McCandlish
