SXSW (South By South West) 2010

A showcase for bands around the world to the world's music industry. There's also a film and interactive element to the festival.

SXSW - South By South West - is a festival held in Austin, Texas, USA each spring. The dates for 2010 are confirmed as Wednesday 17th to Sunday 21st March.

During the festival Austin's bars, clubs, pubs and streets become home to a variety of acts.

Line-up

There are 250 acts confirmed so far for 2010 (see bottom of page). The music section of the festival will take place from March 17th to 21st, the film section will last from March 12th to the 20th, and the interactive section from the 12th to the 16th. No acts are confirmed for 2009.

Around 1,800 bands play in around 70 venues in the city during the festival.

Talks

Smokey Robinson will deliver the keynote address.

SXSW Music will welcome the Chief Executive of UK Music and former lead singer in The Undertones, Feargal Sharkey, to discuss the new partnerships that must be established to unlock digital's true potential.

Tickets

Ticket prices for the music side of the event start at $650 (approx £390) and get gradually more expensive the nearer you buy them to the start of the festival. The price on the gate will be $750 (approx £450).

Keynote speakers

Smokey Robinson will deliver the keynote address at their 2010 Music Conference.
