Swn expands to a four day showcase of some of the best music from Wales and from around the world alongside DJs, film and art, held throughout Cardiff. The event was started by DJ Huw Stephens.

The sixth annual Swn Festival takes place in Cardiff this year across the evening of Thursday 18th October and Friday 19th October then through the days and nights of Saturday 20th October and Sunday 21st October, with over 200 bands performing.

Tickets

An early bird 4-day wristband is priced at £60, a Thursday only wristband is priced at £15, a Friday only wristband is priced at £18, a Saturday only wristband is priced at £26, and a Sunday only wristband is priced at £20. Additionally this year, Sŵn Festival are offering a 10% discount on advance tickets to those who are Unemployed, Students or NHS Staff at the time of their ticket purchase. Sŵn Festival 2012 wristbands allow access to all Sŵn Festival 2012 shows, subject to capacity of individual venues. However, there are a few select headline shows that will require a Top-Up ticket as well as a Sŵn Festival wristband to gain entry. (The Cribs - £10).

Wristbands

The festival uses a wristband system which offers free access to as many shows as possible, plus art exhibitions, film and more. A wristband also entitles the wearer to discounts in stores in Cardiff (to be confirmed), and free rides on the Swn buses across town over the main Swn weekend.

The event will feature bands from both Wales and across the world, as well as DJs, film and art. There will be lots of different genres from hip hop to indie, folk, dance and rock.

Other events expected at the festival include a silent disco, cinema, workshops, and art exhibitions.

Sŵn Festival 2012 will be hosted across various venues in and around the centre of Cardiff, including - Cardiff Students' Union's CF10, Bacchus (formerly Cardiff Arts Institute), Castle Arms (Angel Hotel), 10 Feet Tall, Buffalo, Chapter Arts Centre, Clwb Ifor Bach, Dempseys, GLAM, Globe, Gwdihw, National Museum Cardiff, O'Neills (Trinity Street), O'Neills (St Mary Street), Cardiff University Students' Union, The Full Moon (wristband exchange), The Gate, The Moon Club & Undertone.
