Directors Statement

Following the decision of Shrewsbury Town Council on Wednesday 10 August 2016 to ‘pull’ the use of the Quarry Park Facilities as the venue for this year’s Shrewsbury Fields Forever Festival I regret to advise that this year’s festival, in the absence of a viable venue, has been required to be cancelled.

The decision to withdraw from the agreement regarding the venue for the event was one made by the Shrewsbury Town Council. It is the case that the event had been required to be postponed from its original date in July 2016, however, as at that time it was still possible to work successfully together with Shrewsbury Town Council when holding the Shrewsbury International Comic Art Festival (at the same venue).

Many years of hard work have gone into delivering and developing a contemporary and vibrant festival, on an almost annual basis, since the initial event in 2011 not just in respect of the organisers but also from the various volunteers and sponsors without which the events would not have been possible. I have taken great pride in offering the best value wherever possible, and the event has been nominated for and won numerous awards including four Mayor award’s for the events outstanding contribution to Shrewsbury.v As usual the festival went through the Safety Advisory Group process to confirm operational and safety provision, and as such the event was set to go ahead. I have requested more detail from the town council on the reasons for their decision.

It is with great sadness therefore that as a consequence of the decision of Shrewsbury Town Council to cancel the use of this year’s venue for the event, so close to the show date, Forever Invasion Ltd, the Company behind the event, has been required to seek professional advice and the decision has been taken to cease to trade.

Please note that I have today instructed Irwin Insolvency, Station House, Midland Drive, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands B72 1TU to assist with the formal process of putting the Company into Creditors Voluntary Liquidation.

It is the intention of Irwin Insolvency to now circulate relevant details of this matter to all of the known creditors (to including ticket holders), however, should you need any information in the meantime you can contact Craig Partridge at Irwin Insolvency directly on 0121 321 1700 or by email craig@irwinuk.net.

In respect of all ticket holders it is my understanding that the best option available to you in these regrettable circumstances is to contact your debit/credit card issuing organisation and advise them that the event has been cancelled and as such you require a refund.

Finally, I would just like to reiterate my personal sadness that events have transpired in this way and at the same time thank the many thousands of festival goers, performers, volunteers and sponsors over the years that have contributed to the successful festivals which have invariably been enjoyed by all that have attended and at the same time benefited local businesses and the local economy generally.

Director
