Rhythm Festival - starting in 2006 - aims to be different from other outdoor music festivals, by being smaller, friendlier and geared towards the customer.

With a capacity of under 5,000, it aims to offer a family festival for people who like festivals but who don't like rip-off burgers, crap food and indifferent booze.

There's two music stages, a proper funfair, an alternative therapy field, real ales, ciders, a wide variety of wines, cream teas, children's entertainment, and more.

Acts appearing include Jerry Lee Lewis, Donovan, Geno Washington & The Ram Jam Band, Roy Harper and friends (including Nick Harper & David Bedford), Arlo Guthrie, John Cooper Clarke, Hugh Cornwell, Jah Wobble, Cara Dillon, Seth Lakeman, Chas & Dave, The Blues Band, John Otway, and more - see here for the details.

The festival site is semi-permanent, and includes some flush toilets (augmented by portaloos), and proper roads and paths. The arena is a drained grassy ampitheatre and many attractions are housed indoors. Showers have been hired for the (supervised) campsites and there'll be car parking adjacent to the festival site, plus a shuttle bus from Bedford train station.

Tickets are now on sale, priced at £75 for an adult ticket plus camping (at £15 per tent), and tickets for 12-18 year-olds are priced at £59 for the weekend. One child of 11 and under is admitted free with each adult ticket-holder.

More details will be here when available.
