The 30,000 capacity Pohoda festival is held annually at Trencin Airport, Trencin, Slovakia and in 2012 happens on Thursday 5th and Saturday 7th July. The festival features alternative music, rock, pop, dance music, world music, house, techno, drum and bass, hip hop, but also theatre, discussions, chamber music, dance and literature workshops.

Line-up

The latest acts confirmed are Public Enemy, Ernest Ranglin, Monty Alexander, Sly and Robbie, Portico Quartet, Yann Tiersen, Stealing Sheep, Kasabian, Elbow, Bat for Lashes, The Kooks, Chew Lips, and Movits!. They join Lou Reed, The Horrors, Emiliana Torrini, Two Door Cinema Club, Anna Calvi, Caribou, Aloe Blacc, Little Roy, JuJu, Gemma Hayes, Warpaint, Emika, The Asteroid Galaxy Tour, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Chew Lips, Naive New Beaters, The Victorian English Gentlemens Club, Screaming Females, Amatorski, Susanne Blech, Hjálmar, Les Trucs, The Alaev Family, The Plastic People of the Universe, Bonus, Les Trucs, Fiordmoss, Floex, Čoko Voko, and The Maggies Marshmallows, for the line-up across 7 main stages.

Tickets are priced at 85 euros for a 3 day ticket, 25 eiuros for a campervan, and 9 euros for parking. To buy tickets, click here.

The word Pohoda means 'well-being' and 'coziness' in Slovakian and the festival offers a 'Relax Centre' which incorporates massage, lots of holistic delights, and huge chill-out tents. Other delights include bungee jumping, an art wall where artists paint a section at each year's festival and a captivating family-friendly children's area for the little ones. The festival has a campsite on site.

Getting there


The site itself is Trencin airfield 120km from the country's capital Bratislava. Festival goers can fly into Bratislava Airport and get connecting services to Trencin. Another option is to fly to Vienna and drive 30 minutes to Bratislava before picking a connecting service.

Trains from Bratislava to Trencin:
In general, all express trains from Bratislava to Kosice (via Zilina) stop at Trencin. The journey time is approximately 1 hour 35 minutes. Trencin is one of the main stops of both inter-city and local trains on the route from Bratislava to Kosice.

From Trencin railway station visitors can use the shuttle service, timetables are the bus stops at the railway station, and by the Festival's north gate, where the bus stops.

Tickets for shuttle service cost around 15,- SKK. The service will run during the festival non-stop but the intervals will differ from four times an hour during the rush hours to once an hour during the night.
