New for 2012 is Carlisle Music City taking place at various venues in Carlisle in Cumbria over the school half term week to open up more events to under-18s from from Monday 4th to Sunday 10th June 2012.

Line-up

The first acts announced are Death In Vegas, Lower Than Atlantis, Martin Stephenson & The Daintees, DJ Target & MC Manga, Alan Reed, Beatlemania, The Daisychain Connection, The Lucid Dream, Birds vs Planes, House of Three Hands, The Sun Explodes, The Alleys, Teenage Mary, Kontiki Suite, Jakarta Club, No Soap No Radio, Gareth Williams, Cliff Eland Big Band, Misty Pop, and Christian Moss. The event hopes to cover as many genres of music as possible, making sure there are gigs and other events planned and promoted for all ages and tastes.

World record attempt

Cumbrians have been invited to take part in a world record attempt as part of Carlisle Music City. An effort will be made to break the world record for the largest ever tea dance. To make it into the record books 307 or more couples are needed to take part.

Free event

There will be a free family music, arts and media event in Bitts Park on the last day of Carlisle Music City on Sunday 10th June. The organisers are looking for artists, performers and musicians to take part in this free event. More details soon.

Accommodation

This event does not have camping. But there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
