Newstead Treefest is a FREE festival started in 1999, and focusing on music, arts, crafts, health and the environment. It is held on a reclaimed Greenfield site, formerly the location of Newstead Colliery, in Newstead Village, Nottinghamshire, and will take place from will take place on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July 2009.

Workshop activities take place from 11.00am – 5.00pm on both days and the main stage runs until 12.00pm Saturday and 11.00pm Sunday. There are no acts confirmed to play the event yet.

Treefest focuses on providing a showcase for local artists, performers, bands, DJ’s and agencies and engages the local community and visitors through hands on workshop activities in all areas. This year there is a multicultural theme for Treefest.

The festival's themed areas offer workshops in Arts and Crafts in The Village, this year's Environment Area, a range of workshops in the Teenage Area and the Childrens Areas, free holistic therapies and peer massage training in the Health Area as well as music on the Main stage and in the Dance Area and Acoustic and spoken word in the Speakeasy Cafe, Around the site will be various Stalls, Street theatre, information tents from Agencies and more.

This is a FREE event and camping is also available without charge.

Treefest was initiated to encourage and enhance community spirit and involvement, and aims to offer positive experiences through a range of mediums.
