Winchester's celebration of traditional and contemporary music, dance and song called MayFest takes place on Friday 15th & Saturday 16th May 2009, and happens at various venues in Winchester, in Hampshire.

The festival offers a mix of music, song and dance in the streets, pubs and concert venues of Winchester with folk, jazz, blues and roots music, dance displays and children's events.

Acts confirmed so far include The Askew Sisters, Atlantico, Bursledon Village Band, Craig Morgan Robson, Pure Acoustica, and Winchester Community Choir.

Many events are free and take place in the High Street, the Square, on Cathedral Green and in some of Winchester's pubs. There will be concerts, ceilidhs and gigs in the Guildhall, the Discovery Centre, United Church and St Lawrence's Church.

There are rail links to Winchester, and plenty of car parks in the city, as well as plenty of accommodation options available.
